Welcome to my second flight report and first series on this website. I guess my first report went well and i received quite a few positive comments. This trip report series will include 2 flights on Singapore Airlines.
1) SQ860 SIN-HKG A388 Y (This Report)
2) SQ861 HKG-SIN A333 Y (Coming Soon)
The A388 used to operate on SQ856 to HKG and SQ861 back to SIN. However, over the months after my previous trip, it seems that SIA has rescheduled the A380 for the earlier flight to HKG. I made this booking while I was randomly checking up SQ's website and saw an attractive price of $250 for a flight to HKG. It was a no brainer to take up this offer immediately as I had to requalify for my Krisflyer Elite Gold Status. (I do fly a lot but just couldn’t find sufficient pictures for a flight report.) To requalify for the status, I have booked a few flights, some were already competed while the remaining are still pending. I will start off with my planned itinerary for the year before I get started with the actual report. Here we go…
13 June 2016
We arrived at Changi International Airport via the MRT at about 6.40am and proceeded straight to the check in counters at one of the check in rows occupied by SQ. As with my status, all of our baggage got tagged with a priority baggage tag which means that our bags will be one of the first off the planes and on the belt at HKIA. Check in was quick at the premium economy counters and we received our boarding passes within 10mins. Knowing that this is a morning flight, we knew that brunch would be served on board which calls for a stopover at Burger King to get out tummies 3/4 filled. Soon it was time to head to the gate. The gate for today’s flight is Gate B2.
The aircraft operating for today’s “short hop” to Hong Kong is a nice A380-841 Superjumbo of Singapore Airlines.

Aircraft: Airbus A380-841, 9V-SKA
Airline: Singapore Airlines
Remarks: NIL
I settled down into my window seat on the starboard side of the aircraft just behind the huge right wing of the aircraft. Seat pitch is about 32”, comfortable enough for someone of my height (170cm, I know I am not that tall) We departed gate B2 and headed over to runway 20C.

Pushback

Cruising at 39,000ft
About an hour and 30mins after take off, Brunch was served. We had a choice of Intercontinental and Oriental Meal. As this was brunch, no ice cream came along with the meal. My choice was Noodles and it consisted of Mousse Cake, Noodles, fruits and a typical “airplane bun”.
Post-Meal, I settled in for the rest of my flight while watching documentaries on the IFE. I have to admit, Krisworld is one of the better IFE systems out there but never comparable to Emirates’ ICE system.
Soon after, It was time to begin our descend into Hong Kong…
Thank you for reading this report and I would appreciate it if I can get some good tips from the more experienced reporters out there. (I know there is a real lack of images as most of my images are either uploaded into the system on its side or is too big in size)
Hi Maverick0805,
Thanks for sharing your trip.
I hope you can take more photos during the flight and upload them in your next report.
Hi. I know that theres a lack of image... But i was unable to put some into the FR as most of the pictures i took were to big in size (the max for FR is 3mb) or disorientated. I will get more pictures in my next report
Nice short FR.
Reminds me of my first ever A380 flight in 2014 (yeah, very late!!), and that was on SQ856, the second departure as you mentioned. The return was one an A380, too.
I suggest downloading an app (Lightroom?) to make your image sizes smaller - it works like a charm for me since most images are 4/5mb in size :)
Hi Jish.B
Hope you are enjoying your university in the States. Thanks for suggesting the app. I will make use of it for my next report (Still works in progress)
