This is one of the best flights I have ever had. I must admit that this flight is not perfect, but it is as good as it can get for a Business Class flight. Full report on my blog through here
Singapore Airlines runs four daily flights to and from London. For London departures, you get the early morning SQ305 which is operated by a 77W in its new configuration with new products (as covered in my previous review), a mid-morning departure on a 380, a 2000 departure on a 77W with old configuration but new products, and a late evening departure on its 380. I chose SQ319 with the new product but old configuration, because the time fits my schedule better and also I am a fan of the new product - slick, functional and luxurious.
Check-in was quick as I arrived five hours before my flight departed
Fast Track available for Star Alliance Gold members, and passengers on First and Business Classes - no queues at all at 3:30 in the afternoon, and I was through in a few minutes
I toured the Star Alliance lounges in Terminal 2:
Selections at the Lufthansa Senator Lounge's Afternoon Tea
A380 model in the SilverKris Lounge
Champagne at the SilverKris lounge
Broken showers at Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge
AC 787 model
More bubbly at the United Club
After a few hours in the lounges, my flight was about to board - so I walked from the United Club to the gate for the day
Clearly not boarding yet…

Breakfast on bed - a luxurious way to start a holiday indeed
I cannot fault SQ at all. The flight was excellent throughout. The cabin feels spacious and the bed was by far the widest I have experienced (I have never flown First). While I did not sleep too much (a personal choice as to battle jetlag), I had plenty of spaces to stretch out and so on. The 1-2-1 configuration is by far much more superior to BA's 2-4-2 on the same route. I find this layout much better than the reverse herringbone layout, as it gives me more width to work with sitting upright and while having dinner (much easier to manoeuvre when one wants to go to the loo during dinner). I like the idea of flipping the seat for the bed as it means you get the best of a leather seat for sitting, and the best of a mattress with bedding! Moreover, SQ provides one cushion and a firm pillow which is more than what I have experienced on CX or BA.
Catering-wise, the wine list contains really good wine, especially the Champagne. You will never run out of choices in terms of the non-alcoholic menu, with the mocktails and tea plentiful. The food was cooked to perfection (not that the steak was well done literally, but well done to my liking).
Service was what could be faulted if one is a perfectionist. While I was addressed by name most of the time, they feel slightly distant at times.
All in all, a wonderful flight that will stay in my memory for a long, long time.
