So after a long night roughing it in the Barcelona Airport, I went air side ridiculously early in the morning around 4am.

It was so early (as shown in this image) that Duty Free wasn't even open.

But this gave me a chance to spot and explore air side around the Terminal.

I kipped off in a comfortable seat by a window overlooking the airport terminals for a while after the early morning rush had died off,

I woke up when my mobile phone started to belt out the Genesis song "Invisible Touch" as I had set an alarm for 2 hours before my flight in case I did fall asleep.

I got some last minute planes in daylight. Including an abandoned Boeing 767 of American Airlines, awaiting the crew that would fly back later that day.

Seeing the TAROM retro-jet was nice as well and the BA Airbus A319 was a reminder that in 5 hours I would be back in London…

My flight arrived and it soon became clear as to which gate I had to find. My aircraft for this domestic flight across Spain was a 13 year old Airbus A321 EC-IXD.

The cabin was pretty standard for a European airline using a narrow body aircraft like the Airbus A321, with some minor personalisation for the Airline's branding.

The flight was only half full at the most, So boarding was complete fairly promptly and we were airborne in a good fifteen minutes after our push back.

The flight was smooth and I most listened to music, however I did leave my seat and go to the galley and grab a humble Cola Zero as I like a drink when I am flying. All though 2 Euro for something I can get at my local newsagent for only 65p is a bit drastic, but that is airline Buy on Board for you.

We arrived at Madrid around 20 minutes ahead of our scheduled arrival time and ten minutes later we arrived at the gate.

I didn't go to the flight deck on this visit, I had to bolt to a connecting flight to London Heathrow on an Airbus A330, only 1 hour and 30 minutes gap away. So it was a case of hitting the ground running…

Cabin crew9.0

Barcelona - BCN

Madrid - MAD

Iberia- Decent flight, strange not having the crew do the service, but I had no issue going to the galley. Aircraft cabin was like most other basic A321.

Barcelona- Nice airport, not a lot of places to sleep comfortably landslide, but air-side chairs can be comfy subject to the person- just remember to set up Genesis music to awake you in time!!!

Madrid- Pretty nice T4 terminal. Didn't get enough time to appreciate and explore. Staff helpful in helping me find my flight & gate
