Here we are my 100th Flight
It only took me 17 years after my first ever flight which was on British Airways Boeing 777-236(ER) G-VIIM from London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson in June 2000…
Well, here we are. After BA Announced the B772 on the LHR-MAD service, I felt obliged to bring my 100th Flight to a full circle!
I booked this flight plus return on the Iberia A340-600 the following evening for only £120. Seats were an extra matter…
Despite some worries over the Summer strikes which resulted in my BA458 being cancelled for 15 days straight, my flight went ahead unaffected!
After getting to LHR Terminal 5 and venturing into the unknown T5B, I found my ride was going to be on the Boeing 777 confirmed the day before: G-VIIH.
Boarding the plane was uneventful, I managed to get on the plane ahead of the other economy passengers using my brand new Finnair Silver Memberhip status (OneWorld Ruby) and I boarded with the other Priority Boardings- making some quick images of the fairly empty cabin possible as I ventured into the very back of the plane… To Row 39 Seat A.
I chose the final window seat rows as this meant I could have extra room due to the row being a 2 seats row, rather than 3 seats.
I browsed the in flight menu to select what I was going to have on my latest Milestone flight…
I had one snag, I couldn't find a head-phone jack for the IFE. Which wasn't a huge issue as I had my I-phone full of quality music plus I didn't need headphones for the inflight map!
The flight departed about 15 minutes behind schedule, but the time was to be made up as we bolted along to Madrid…
For my breakfast & celebrating 100 flights, I enjoyed a bacon roll plus a can of Beer (Heineken in this case).
The flight was enjoyable as I flicked through the IFE options to see what BA offered, as I planned to indulge in BA Long-haul at a near point in the future…
We began to descend over Spain for 20 minutes as we neared Madrid Barajas. The weather was nicely clear, so i could see the ground.
I also bagged one more cheeky shot of the cabin while the cabin crew were chatting in the back of the galley.
After an amazing 2 hour flight South, we were down at Madrid Barajas, concluding my 100th Flight and only my 4th Boeing 777 flight.
We taxied around Madrid, and came into the non-Schengen Terminal 4S. Where all the British Airways, Iberia A330/A340 flights and the long haul OneWorld flights were stationed.
So, after parking. I made my way to the front of the Boeing 777, I managed to get some unfinished ends tied up. Air France wouldn't let me get a picture of their B777 flight deck, Garuda's pilots bolted before I could ask them… But BA- they didn't let me down, not on my 100th Flight!!!
Thank you British Airways- see you in January!
Congrats for this 100th :-)
Thank you very much! :)
