Pre Flight @ DPS
I arrived at the airport with plenty of time and went into the international departure area which looks very nice.
As I looked at the actual departure and arrival list, I saw that one of the other Qatar flights (QR965 with a B787) was cancelled in the morning.
There was a huge queue at the Qatar Check In desks.
I guess a lot of passengers were rebooked onto my flight.
After the check in I passed the security checks and went through the duty free shops before I spent a few minutes at the window to see the apron.
You can see the broken QR B787 in the background next to Garuda Indonesia A330.
Garuda Indonesia - Qatar Airways - Hongkong Airlines
By the way it was the same Hongkong Airlines I have flown with in January 2013 from PVG to HKG :)
Nice to see that lady in good shape!
Flight QR963
Boarding for the flight to DOH started about 30min late.
But as the captain told, there was a smal electrical issue which they had to fix before the return flight.
After the flight, I took a look at flightradar24 and found out, that A7-BEC was in Doha for about 2 weeks.
Looks like she underwent some general maintenance.
Cabin view
View from my window at the gate.
We had to wait quite some time until we were free for departure.
During departure I had a great view across the lagoon and the crossing highway followed by the lights of Nusa Dua.
After departure it was time for a movie.
I continued with the Fast & Furious movies.
About an hour into the flight the dinner service started.
Here is the menu card for flight QR963
I took the chicken rendang with sambal.
I really like the QR cutlery.
After dinner the flight continued very smoothly until we reached the mainland of Singapore and Malaysia.
Shortly before Kuala Lumpur we made a sharp left turn because the weather in that area was too bad and the turbulences quite heavy.
So we headed towards the Strait of Malacca followed by a right turn to head in a north western direction towards the Gulf of Bengal and India.
Over the Strait of Malacca and the Gulf of Bengal it was unbelievably smooth.
There were absolutely no bumps on the way. I have never experienced that in my previous flights!
As we reached the east coast of India the turbulences started again.
We had to cross a thunderstorm underneath us.
It was pretty cool as I was able to see the heavy lightning down there.
After we have passed the bad weather the second meal service for the brunch started.
I took the omelette.
The rest of the flight was uneventful.
We passed India and headed towards Iran to fly around the UAE because of the restrictions against QR.

Landing in DOH.
And finally at the gate.
If you want, I added flightradar24 screenshots to see the whole flight route that day.

Post Flight @ DOH
I had about 2h until my connecting flight to MUC.
There was not that much time to do something as this time it was quite crowded and full at the security checks.
Last picture of my B777-300ER at the gate.
Thanks for spending your time and reading :)
