I'm an AV-geek, so I never hesitate to fly long haul and transit a lot.
Main Purpose of this trip is to try Asiana new Economy products and fleets, A350 and A380.At the same time, I tried a PC12, Swiss-made, 8 passengers prop-Aircraft.
Check in
I arrived at Hong Kong airport by a local bus from Sheung Shui(上水) Station.
I landed in Shinzen airport (China) at 2 am this morning, and spent all night in this airport to catch the first subway, and moved to Hong Kong.So I was too exhausted at that point.
Check-in counter was crowded, but online check-in counter was empty. So I could print out boarding pass quickly.
Kindly, An agent proceeded check-in on my whole journey (HKG-ICN-SFO), despite next leg to the US was tomorrow.
Hong Kong airport was clean and efficient. I was impressed with a beauty of architecture.
After an immigration, The food court was available. However, it was very crowded and no empty seats, So I gave up to eat here.

When I arrived at the gate, Boarding had commenced already.
At the end of an Air Bridge, Newspapers were distributed to economy passengers. I grabbed an English one.
It is a rare service nowadays, but common in Korea. I had experienced such a service in Korean Air, too.
When I entered the cabin, I found it was old at a glance because of the Seats, which was thick and classic color.
Seat pitch was cramped. An IFE was outdated, and Touch control was unavailable.
Pillow and blanket were waiting for me.
Cabin crews were proactively and kind. They were assisting passengers with a smile.
Personally, I felt Asiana cabin crews were more friendly than Korean AIr.
In maintenance facility, There were many aircrafts were inspected.
We took off at 2pm.On the wing, There were many repairs marks, showing its age.
After 30 minutes, Meal service was commenced.
A cabin crew came to me and said they had a Western-style Chicken and a Korean"Bibimbap".Of course, I chose the later.
Bibimbap is Korean style mix rice. To my surprise, They served it with a ceramic plate, along with a hot pepper paste tube.
I mixed it with a hot pepper paste and rice.
It was delicious, and I felt it would be a great introduction of the Korean culture toward foreign visitors.
Why would more airlines not serve a traditional meal?
A tea was served after a meal, along with a cut lemon.
We flew over Taiwan, and Jeju Island, which is my favorite Korean island.
Then, We started a descent for Incheon Airport.
View of Incheon city.
At 4 am, We landed at Incheon International Airport. A second terminal was constructed, which is scheduled to open end of this year.
We spotted on the main terminal. All the way to the immigration, I could watch an A380 and a B747, which would board next few days…
Modern Incheon Airport
This is Bonus report, which would cover my one day transit in Seoul city.
Korean BBQ,I had 삼겹살(Pork), accompanied with a lot of side dishes.
I walked around my hotel at night. There were many shops still open(24 hours restaurant was common in Korea)
Next morning.I walked to a local market.
I got on the subway and went to The War Memorial of Korea (전쟁기념관).
There was a detailed display about Korean War.and many tanks and aircrafts, include Soviet tanks.
Good review. I also agree, Asiana flight attendants are warm and friendly. The food in Seoul looks great too.
