This report would cover my last vacation in Guam. Guam is one of the most popular beach resort, located in the middle of the Pacific ocean. At the same time, This small island is the nearest US territory from Japan, just 1500miles away, so where was popular among Japanese tourist.
My itinerary is as follows.
GK108 Jetstar CTS → NRT A320 You are Here.
UA874 United Airlines NRT → GUM B777-200
UA828 United Airlines GUM → NRT B777-200
GK113 Jetstar NRT → CTS A320
In this trip, I experienced both United business class & economy class, which were exceeded my expectation. I would post them in a few days
In this post, I would report the first leg of my trip, Jetstar domestic flight.
Jetstar Japan GK113
I arrived at the airport at 2 am. Before I went to an airport parking lot, I snapped few pictures from famous spotting place.
At the airport, I visited a credit card lounge, located next to an observation deck. As This lounge was crowded and not relaxed atmosphere, I left this lounge within 30 minutes.
As you know, There is no food option in this lounge, but soft drinks were available.
As Jetstar has introduced great mobile check-in app, I could go to the security area directly. Jetstar is the only budget airline which allows passenger board with a mobile boarding pass in Japan.
When I arrived at the gate, Boarding was already started. A gate agent scanned my mobile phone and passed me a tiny boarding pass.
Nice view of Jetstar A320
As usual, Seat was cramped and uncomfortable. There is no pocket in front of my knee, as it barely increased a legroom.
After pushback, A ground staff was waving his hand despite the cold weather. This scenery is common in Japan and Taiwan( I have seen in Taoyuan Airport, Taipei )
Have you ever see such a farewell in your country?
We took off at 3:30 pm and reached cruising altitude after 15 minutes. Cabin crew started food sales, though, many passengers already fell asleep and the others didn't care about it.
Nice view of the terminal
On this aircraft, There was no wifi or IFE, instead, I enjoy the recorded documentary"A Very British Airline" on my table. This is my favorite aviation documentary.
I made the IFE system by myself in my seat・・・
40 minutes before landing, A seatbelt sign was turned on again. I have no idea why they turned on seatbelt sign so early.
A beautiful sun seat ・・・
As it was peak hour, Many aircraft were preparing for next flight.
We touched down in Narita airport at 5:00 am and within 10 minutes We were in the parking spot in Terminal3.
View of the cockpit.
There is no boarding bridge in Terminal 3 to reduce the operation cost. As well, Terminal building was very simple and no lounge available.
Personally, I don't like this cheap terminal.
However, I guess" low-cost concept " is working well in Japan because airfare of the previous Japanese domestic market was too high. There was no competition until the first LCC, AirAsia Japan started its operation in mid-2013.
2 big full-service-carrier (ANA and JAL) are trying to cut a price to compete with LCC now. I could not help but think that "LCCs changed Japanese closed aviation market".
I got on a shuttle bus to Terminal 1 to transit.
You can check the current bus location and ETA on this information board, though not accurate.
After 15 minutes, I arrived at Terminal 1. Next flight is United Business class, so stay tuned!!
Thank you for reading
Nice view of A320
This flight is almost 80% full. It was common in this route.

Hi there!
Great! I love holiday reports! Will you include a tourism bonus about Guam? Please!
I am shocked! This doesn’t look like a lounge at all! All the seats facing the windows, and desks blocking the access to the windows! No friendly conversation atmosphere at all! Those seats look so comfortable. What a waste!
Incredible! I wonder why.
In the photo of the fuselage, when you are boarding the plane, what is that little mirror for?
IMHO it doesn’t look too bad. You seem to be tall, but your knees don’t seem to be touching the seatback in front of you. Getting rid of the pocket seems like a good idea. I have seen cabins where a mother with a baby was unable to seat down or stand up with her baby in her arms!
That’s amazing! And a very nice detail. I have always been fascinated by Japanese culture. Always so polite!
I’m pretty sure that ground staff in my country would raise their middle finger at you if allowed! XDDD
Nice, indeed. It looks beautiful!
Is it on YouTube? I’ll search for it. It may calm my nerves after an episode of Mayday, Air Crash Investigation!
Thanks a lot for sharing! I’ll be looking forward to your next holiday reports! ^_^
Thank you for you comment.
Yeah,I would include photos of the beautiful resort next report. The lounge was not friendly atmosphere because many people were working and workings.... like a working zombie.(Over work is one of the biggest social problem in Japan)
Haha.It would be happen in many countries since their work is too hard.
It's interesting to hear the situation of the situation in Chile, on the other side of the planet from Japan.
