Hi everyone!
I'm a young Indonesian flight enthusiast and have been a silent reader in this site since i was in 7th grade. I'm also a geography enthusiast that loves joining competition. Since then, i have promise to myself that i will write a flight report if I have the chance to join the Indonesian National Science Olympiad. The Olympiad is divided into three stages: City Olympiad, Provincial Olympiad and National Olympiad There are 9 subjects in the Olympiad. The competition is really tight, since there's only 80-90 contestants for every subject from all around Indonesia that can be selected into the National Olympiad. Thank God, Through His miracle i can join the National Olympiad in 11th Grade.
But, why would I wait until National Olympiad to write this report? Well, every year, the olympiad will be held in different cities of Indonesia. Therefore, most contestant will travel to the host city by plane. The ticket will be paid by the government . For me, it's a really honorable experience because I haven't had any plane tickets given by the government (And Thanks God again, the government of East Java chose Full Service Carrier for our flight). This year, the Olympiad was held in Padang City, West Sumatera. There aren't any direct Garuda flights from Surabaya to Padang, so we need a transit in CGK.
We departed from the Arcadia Hotel (The hotel for East Java contestants preparing the Olympiad) at 3 am. The flight departs from Juanda Airport Terminal 2. We used the group check in counter to check in. The process was really slow (I think it's because we have a lot of group members). After checking in, we went to the 2nd floor to board our plane. The security check was hassle-free and the we arrived at our gate.

The flight was on time, the plane took off to the east then making a large turn towards Jakarta.
So… what's in the seat pocket?
Snacks were distributed about 15 minutes after taking off. For a short flight, Garuda only gave us a box of bread and water with some candies, but we could order drinks of our choice such as coffee, tea or juice from the FA.
How about the IFE?On the bright side, It has a really wide selection of entertaintment on it. But the screen is really unresponsive. It's really hard to browse the IFE system, so i ended up watching a Hong Kong culinary show. The IFE also shows a long unskippable ads on the beginning of the flight, which is really annoying.
An hour after the flight, we started to descend to CGK. We landed in CGK on time but it took quite long time to get to Terminal 3, the Garuda's terminal.
We got a bus gate on this flight

That's beyond fantastic! What a remarkable achievement! Congrats again!!
Someone finally gives me a good reason to get closer to God!
The downside of travelling with groups. Besides, you can't roam around the airport freely! :(
I love your writing style! Fluent and lively. You write like an expert, you know?
Same lame snack that I got from Aerolíneas Argentinas on an international flight. And in a box, too.
LOL
Great photos. Great report. Thank you very much for sharing. You have all my admiration for being such an intelligent student. Keep the good job at school and at flight-report.com!! :D
