I was very excited for this flight. Besides the first leg of the trip (BCN-MAD) I had never flown with UX before. I had booked the flight using around 40.000 Flying Blue miles and they were very well spent.
There are multiple lounges on the airport of Madrid. There are Iberia lounges and independent lounges. With the business class ticket I had convenient access to the lounge right next to my gate.
The Puerta del Sol lounge in terminal 3 was quiet but well equipped. There was a great choice of food available. The lounge also had a conference room.

Boarding was done by bus. However, when the ground crew opened the gate, no bus was available just yet and they let us wait in a boiling hot staircase for about 20 minutes. And that was with priority boarding.

The aircraft: an Embraer 190 was great. It was a bit rocky, but not having a middle seat is great. The food, as seen on the top image, was amazing. Especially the presentation. Here's the menu:

I'd love to fly with Air Europa again. I'm especially interested in their long haul on the Dreamliner. Hopefully I get to fly it in the near future
