Here is the next report for my trip taking me to Billund.
After my arrival at Los Angeles I went to have dinner with my cousin who lives in Los Angeles. I also booked a room at the Crown Plazza LAX to be as closed to the airport as possible as I was staying just the one night.
Here is the hotel room.
After a good night sleep and an ultra fast check-out I am in the hotel shuttle for Terminal 2 where KLM and AF flights depart from.
As I checked-in online the night before, I only had to drop my bags and go to the AF-KL lounge.
After Security I am in the departure area. The AF-KL lounge is on the upper floor, the lift is located between the I Love LA shop and the Wolfgang Puck restaurant.

A short walk around Terminal 2 and here is my KLM crew for Amsterdam.
45 minutes before departure, boarding is started with World Business Class passengers first and then Economy passengers.
Our Boeing 747-400 for this transatlantic flight is PH-BFA named Atlanta.
My seat is on the upper deck of the Boeing 747-400. The nose was fully booked and there were only 5 or 6 of us on the upper deck !

Departure for Amsterdam is nearing and after the Chief Purser and captain's welcome announcements, KLM introduces the safety procedures on board this Boeing 747-400.
We are ready for departure and our 747 starts its journey towards the runway.
We align and the engines of our 747 are screaming before launching our heavy Boeing towards the Pacific Ocean.
We overfly the Pacific Ocean and then do a u-turn to go above North America.

Service starts with drinks and I choose a glass of South African Chardonnay white wine.
And then a glass of Coca-Cola.
The crew is really nice and looking after us so well.
Dinner starts and for starter we have a Salmon and Crab timbale, crab claws, snow peas, cherry tomato.
Green salad with croutons and blue cheese.
For the main I choose the Snapper fillet with a lemon basil sauce, pappardelle and braised romaine lettuce. A choice I will soon regret as the fish is really dry and the sauce awful !!! A big NO !
Next step is cheese OR dessert. I am used to travel on Air France and I must say that the french company is more generous as it offers its customers cheese AND dessert. Also, Air France desserts include a trio of pastries, a choice of sorbets and fresh fruits. anyway…
I choose the chocolate mousse and fresh fruits on skewer.
To end the meal I order a rooibos tea and a glass of Amarula, It felt like being on South African Airways !
After the meal, a short trip to the restrooms to freshen up before a walk around the aircraft.
During the flight I can't fall asleep, I watch movies to pass time. One of the cabin attendant will ask if I want a snack or a drink. I order a Rooibos tea. She'll bring it in a paper cup with a few Milano cookies.

Before our arrival breakfast is served. I love KLM's system where you can order your breakfast like in a hotel. You just need to tick your choices and the crew will prepare your tray to your liking before serving it.

Pour moi le confort ne s'arrete pas qu'au siège et au fait qu'il y ait une coque ou pas. Beaucoup d'autres critères rentrent en compte dans la définition de \mon confort\.
Je suis honnête et je dois avoué que je ne suis pas une personne compliquée et critique. Il faut se souvenir que la cabine etait quasiment vide avec personne devant moi, personne à côté de moi.
Intéressant de comparer avec mon FR du vol KL878 TPE-AMS. Le même siège 73A, presque le même appareil (Combi ou non, cela ne change rien au pont supérieur), mais notes argumentées très différentes. Seule différence notable entre les deux vols: l'escale à BKK.

Ceci dit, un bon point pour le service petit déjeuner à la commande... une bonne idée à faire passer à mes collègues PNC (hum), ça éviterait que les gens jettent les choses qu'ils n'aiment pas...

@legolas0606: Je vous rejoins totalement! Je déteste le gaspillage et cela serait (à mon sens) une excellente chose que les autres compagnies AF en tête, se mettent au pti déj à la commande.
@manureva744: Le choix du fromage OU dessert est déplorable sur un vol aussi long et au prix du billet. Même en éco on a droit aux 2, certes modestes mais le repas est complet.
Merci pour ce FR très bien fait. Je n'ai jusqu'à présent jamais eu vraiment envie de prendre KLM en long courrier mais ton reportage donne plutôt envie même si les sièges ne font pas trop rêver. L'entrée à en effet l'air très appétissante ( mais celles d'air France le sont aussi) le plat très moyen et le dessert assez basique. Il faut dire que depuis les dernières améliorations ( notamment le trio de dessert) Air France s'en sort plutôt bien maintenant. Nous attendons la suite de tes tribulations et FR avec impatience !

ça va paraitre un peu prétentieux mais vous faites vos FR comme moi, cad une tonne de photo avec pas mal de focus sur la nourriture.
