My family decided to go somewhere during the July 4th break, and we decided on New York in the end since I haven't been there and my parents haven't visited in more than 15 years. Tickets were once again booked on American. On the outbound flight, I selected Main Cabin Extra seats as they offer the most legroom on these 737s. The seat map showed for non-Oasis planes. On the return flight, we had seats in first class. I won't be reviewing the flights to and from Fargo as these are your run of the mill regional jet flights, and there's isn't anything that special to them.

American airlines flight 349 chicago o'hare to new york laguardia
After landing in Chicago from Fargo our plane had a very long taxi to the gate which involved holding in an area with some other planes because the gate was occupied. We ended up landing later than the scheduled arrival time. Our flight arrived at the end of the G concourse, and we had to walk over to the K concourse in under an hour. We stopped at McDonald's to pick up some food and by the time we got to the gate boarding was already at least halfway commenced. The gate agents made everyone check their bags as this was a full flight.
Since my seat was an exit row seat legroom was very good.
No seatback screens or large overhead bins on this non Sky Interior 737. N937AN
There were universal outlets located in between the seats, but there were no USB ports. The seat back pocket contained the safety card, the inflight magazine, a buy-on-board menu, an entertainment guide and surprisingly a Spanish magazine. Every seat also had an adjustable headrest.
View
Boarding eventually finished and doors closed at 9:21 CDT, and we pushed back three minutes later. The safety video was screened from the overhead monitors.

The departure runway was 10L.
Terminal 5
Half an hour after takeoff the snack service started. I asked for a ginger ale and Biscoff and received the whole can. The tray tables folded out of the armrests on these exit row seats.
While this plane didn't have PTVs streaming service was offered via the wifi. Once connected to AA Inflight you go to aainflight.com where you could watch movies and tv shows for free.
Movies
There was a large selection of new and old movies and tv shows, and I ended up watching two and a half episodes of Modern Family to pass the time. Soon enough, flight attendants passed through the cabin to pick up trash and we started to descend at 11:56 EDT.
We flew past Manhattan and approached LaGuardia from the north.
Runway 22 arrival
We parked next to another 737 at D1 at 11:21. New terminals are in the process of being constructed, so there was a lot of work going on at the airport.
LGA isn't that nice of an airport to be in and these baggage claim pictures can kind of show, but after the new terminals are built and the old ones are teared down this airport will probably be the nicest one serving New York ironically.
We took the free Q70 bus to the subway station and soon enough we were on an F express train to Manhattan. Welcome to New York!

Conclusion
Overall this was a nice flight. The exit row MCE seats provided tremendous legroom, and the cabin crew was nice including one of the funny first class flight attendants. While I wish these older planes were refitted with entertainment screens the streaming service was enough for this short sub-2 hour flight. ORD was fine, but there are no moving walkways and LGA was pretty bad, but at least it's close to downtown. The flight back from New York was the real treat, stay tuned!
