After one night spent in Sydney in Darling Harbour it was time to go back to the airport so we jumped in a taxi to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport.
Check-in for the Virgin Atlantic flight was ultra fast. The Economy cabin was rather empty and in Premium Economy there were a couple of seats left empty.
Our A340-600 is ready for boarding.
Our neighbor, also an Airbus A340-600 for Thai Airways awaiting for its flight to Bangkok.
Boarding will start after the said time but as the flight was empty we would depart on time.
The Premium Economy cabin.
The TV screen in the seatback in front.
The welcome drink, I'll have an orange juice.
The IFE, I found that it was rather difficult to use it. A few difficulties to start it but I managed. I watched a few movies and then The Cleveland Show, a spin off of the very famous Family Guy.
The meal will be served by the 2 chinese cabin attendants who will take care of Premium Economy exclusively. The meal is identical to the one served in Economy but it proper crockery, no plastic. The starter, a very simple salad with cucumber was on the light side for a Premium Economy dish.
Detail of the spicy hotpot, a delicious vegetarian meal !
Our cabin attendant picking up the trays.
They will the come around with glasses on a tray and offer liqueurs with a choice between brandy or Bailey's.
Bailey's will be a nice ending to my meal.
Only 2 more hours until we arrive in HKG !
Overflying the Philippines !
The snack will be served 90 minutes before arrival. A quiche with choice of tea, coffee or water ! The offer is a little on the shy side, service is not very elegant as they hand you the quiche in a plastic bag, a paper napkin and your choice of drink.
My shopping, the Virgin Atlantic A340-600 which is actually the very same one we are flying on, G-VSHY Madame Butterfly.
We arrived on time, we are now in Hong Kong where we'll stay for 3 days before our next flight. Next stop Bangkok with an Ethiopian Airlines.
Sydney - SYD
Hong Kong - HKG
Excellent flight on Virgin Atlantic. The seat is comfortable, the spicy hotpot delicious. Bad marks for the starter and the snack service before we arrived in Hong Kong. An excellent product for an route that sees a lot of competition with Qantas, Cathay Pacific.
