SFO offers some pretty decent views of your plane depending on the gate. This 789 will be taking me for the next 17 hours to Singapore!. It will be in for a long tough ride through significant headwinds
Another shot of this beautiful aircraft . Although United now has a new livery, this older livery still looked great on the 789 with the curve gold lines.
No doubt this is a high yielding flight for United judging by the people lined up for Zone 1 Boarding. I took the photo from the Zone 2 Boarding Lane (also a priority boarding lane) and there was also a lot of people in Zone 2. This flight seems to be mixed with a lot of buisness travellers who travel often and/or in Business Class combine with a non-trivial amount of budget conscious travellers connecting from Canada and various other parts of the US. No wonder San Francisco supports up to 5 daily flights to Singapore judging by the amount of premium flyers on this route. That's quite amazing considering that this is a 8400 mile flight and there is not much of a disapora population to support/fill these flights like many other Asian destinations (e.g., Taipei).
I boarded early and I was able to take photos of the cabin when it was empty. But, the cabin filled up full soon after. The mood lighting during boarding really helps make this into an inviting +modern cabin.

Boarding complete. Full flight load. The disadvantage for economy class passenger in discontinuing the LAX-SIN nonstop in favor of a second SFO-SIN nonstop is that the former has more empty seats in economy because it is a payload restricted flight where many seats are blocked, especially during the winter when headwinds are stronger. San Francisco incurs a far less payload restriction, especially in the summer months.

Inflight meal. The main course was chicken and rice and was really good. The ice cream was really good too. The salad and brad were served cold (too cold in fact). Cans of soft drinks were offered as opposed to just a cup which was helpful as I find airlines who only give a you a cup and not the rest of the can is far too little for dinner.
Standard 787 lavatory. I was surprised to see Cowshed amenties stocked in the Economy lavatories as this should only be for business class lavatories. Nice touch!
Breakfast, generous fruit portions and delicious pancakes. United has really stepped up the catering. There was also an unpictured midflight snack (the standard turkey sandwich + M&M chocolates).
In Singapore.
The service on this flight was above average and better than my last United ultra-long haul flight when they still served LAX-SIN nonstop. The nonstop flight between SFO and SIN makes it really convenient to travel between North America and Singapore. This is the second longest flight I have ever taken (after LAX-SIN) at 8,400 miles but time flies by
