INTERO

Hello and welcome to this flight-report from Tel Aviv (TLV) to Madrid (MAD) with Iberia.

FIRST THING IS THE ROUTING OF THIS TRIP!

Routing

  • Tel Aviv TLV - Madrid MAD Iberia A330-300 You are here
  • Madrid MAD - Tel Aviv TLV Air Europa Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Coming soon

INTroduction

I bought the ticket one month before the flight. I was sitting with my friend and we thought about a nice destination that we can visit with a flight on a wide-body jet.

Surprisingly I find a one-way ticket from Tel Aviv to Madrid on Iberia for only 79$! This fare is extremely cheap!

The return flight I bought with Air Europa on their Dreamliner for 80$. They don't have the ideal hours on the way to TLV (Take off at 9 AM) but the fare was also extremely cheap so I use their service and flew with them the return flight

Iberia operates up to 7 weekly flight on Madrid - Tel Aviv route since 2018.

The flight are usually operate on LEVEL's Airbus A330-200 that don't contain flat bed business class (During the Omicron Varient time flights were operated by smaller Airbus A320neo.

Sometimes A330-200 and A330-300 operates the route. The Premium Economy seats on the A330-300 sell as "XL Seat" for 22 eur per direction.

THE DAY OF THE FLIGHT TO MADRID

We left my house at 1:30 AM and had a 30 min driving. We left my house early as some roads were blocked due to night construction.
After arriving at Ben Gurion Airport we went to the check-in counters.

Iberia's Airbus A330-300 have 3 serving classes: Business, Premium Economy and Economy. As I wrote before we sat at the Premium Economy section for only 22EUR per passenger!

Shortly after takeoff, a light meal was served. Actually, I excepted to get a hot meal for a 5.5-hour flight but those are COVID dates…

We'd got alcoholic beverages and unlimited soft drinks.

Conclusion

All in all, it was a cheap and good experience for Iberia Airlines. The option to enjoy a premium economy product for 100$ per direction is quite rare.
The process at Tel Aviv airport was easy and quick.
The cabin crew was OK, not the nicest that I've met but they did their job.
The cabins on the A330 are wonderful and comfortable! The business class looks comfortable as also the economy class and the premium economy class.
I'd excepted to get more than a snack box for a more than 5 hours flight.
The arrival process in Madrid was also quick and nice, It took us 40 minutes to go to the passport control, take the train, show our COVID documents, and then collect our luggage.

I would like to recommend Iberia Airlines !

Hi Yonatan, nice to see one of your reports!

It's nice that so many European carriers are flying widebodies to TLV again. Being able to get a Premium Economy seat for only 22 EUR more on an already good fare is a really good deal for such a long flight. Since they're sold as XL seats on this route, I'd get it for free with my oneworld status, yay.

While the meal isn't up to the standards of true long-haul flights, it is free and has some fresh items, while meals on slightly shorter flights like ATH-MAD have buy-on-board only. And free wine/beer is nice too.

    Thanks for sharing!
