ATL is a massive hub. And in the previous times I flew from BOG to ATL to connect to different spots in the US it performed efficiently, there were people helping people to queue faster and they did so with a the characteristic Southern charm… but this was not the case today.
The place was filled, seemed a bit collapsed and no people were helping to queue with charm, rather I felt barked at.
My flight to DCA would depart from the T concourse, and that meant that I would have to cross the whole airfield from one end to another….luckily we have the Plane Train to take us there.
There is a huge difference between Concourses F, E and the rest. Even if ATL is updating the older concourses, they feel cramped and dingy.
Having lost my connection time at the FIS and TSA, I made it to my gate with enough time to board my flight to DCA. I was hoping to grab a burger at The Varsity…but no luck. Culinary frustration #2 of the trip…guess I'll have to eat something when I made it to DC.
Our gate had this little nod to the Breast Cancer Research Fund (?)
I found this to be overly optimistic…but they made it!
Boarding delta's A321
As was the case with the 757, the cabin was fresh, with all the expected technology and comfort. But no pillows or blankets this time.
As advertised, boarding went by quick and we were good to go.
taxi and take off
ATL is quite a boring place for spotting. Mainly dominated by DL and WN…and some wild DL allies.
Enroute to washington
The flight went on pretty uneventfully. I was between dozing off and on.
At a point we were given something to munch. I asked for a double glass of apple juice. The test was passed.
and sooner than not…we were reaching the DMV
arrival to washington reagan national airport
I selected my seat hoping to get the great views of my future hometown that arriving to DCA affords. Alas…we were due to land from the opposite direction. Well, I got to have nice views of Alexandria
We parked besides this lovely silverjet. But we took our time to descend. Don't remember why. While we waited I discovered DL's IFE had episodes of one of my favourite shows when I was growing up: Globe Trekker
And so…my moving to DC was completed

Conclusion
This was a regular US flight with DL. I didn't expect more or less. IFE was top notch, the cabin felt crisp new. Crew was nice.
ATL, as mentioned before did not perform as expected. DCA was super good. I grabbed a cab that left me at my new place for a fraction of what I would have had to pay if I had arrived to IAD, so that was appreciated.
Thanks for reading, saludos!
