the amazon treasure
Hello everyone and welcome to this report in continuation from the Amazon forest.
I didn't have enough pictures to repost the previous leg Manaus-Curaçao (Willemstad) but just about a few for this flight.
Hello everyone and welcome to this report in continuation from the Amazon forest.
I didn't have enough pictures to repost the previous leg Manaus-Curaçao (Willemstad) but just about a few for this flight.

The amazon forest was an absolute magical experience, we were staying in a very small village - just 3 houses and a central house where you eat, somewhere only reachable by 1hour sailing.

I booked the flight through an online travel agency from Skyscanner - I never heard of Insel Air before.

For memory here is the routing..

at Curaçao - HATO International Airport
We arrived from our previous flight from Manaus in the very very very early morning - pretty much everything was closed at the airport.

The airport is very small, we rested for a bit but couldn't resist to leave the airport even if it means going through security again.

Look at the beauty!

Anf finally it was time for our boarding…
onboard the MD80
To this day it was the first and only time I flew on a Mad dog..
Aircraft: Mc Donnel Douglas MD83
Registration: PJ-MDF
Engines: 2x PW JT8D
Age: 29 Years
Layout: XXX

Just like on the first leg, the aircraft was almost empty, so I first sat on the F side of the cabin.
This was just before something happened, that never happened to me since: I was called back to be identified to the cabin crew member, the police was there.
That was super scary, I was taken out of the plane back to the gate where I was told "no don't worry it is a routine check of your bag, we usually target random passengers but we forgot to check you"- never heard of something like this before.
Litteraly after everyone started at me on the plane, and being checked by police I was admitted back inside.
Like I said the weirdest experience…
Time for take off, I was expecting a short one but actually the runway is quite lenghty.

Quickly above the sea - Curaçao doesn't seem to the largest of islands.

The crew wasn't really pleasant- the started the service without looking at us, nor saying a word to us - just handed over a coke and some sweets.

I apologise I don't have any picture of the service, just my infamous magazine review!

With the airlines loyalty scheme

The extend of the network… very interestingly Manaus isn't shown on the map even though you can see the arrow route pointing to it..

And a LOT of advs…

By a lot I mean A LOT

Even on the duty free section there was some Adv!

I slept for the rest of the flight, when I woke up we were about to land…

at miami - international airport

A last view on our plane of the day. Is there anyone knowing what airline is this aircraft between Insel Air and Aeormexico?

Another collectable!

This was my first time in Miami, I was expecting a giant beach resort sort of situation but actually it turns out to be a very interesting place.

Thanks for sharing my dear !
Mind your diet, seems that when you were fishing the piranhas you looked a bit overweighted :) :) :)
See you soon mate :)
LOL I know too much beer XD
but the guy was impressive he taught me how to fish, kill the animal and cut it straight away... untill then fish for me was a piece of meat in a supermarket XD
Thank you for this follow-on report. A rare experience whilst not the most pleasant unfortunately.
Countering drug-trafficking is a major concern in this part of the world, this may explain the situation.
LYSflyer
Yes maybe i looked like someone who might do deug trafficking ahah
Hey! I thought this is a good report. It makes it even more valuable knowing that the airline is not even operating anymore. Some part of me wanted to see some more; pictures of the cabin, lavatory, amenities; but then again, this report is more than enough a proof that this airline existed. Thank you for sharing with us!
