Very short-haul domestic flight is fun sometimes. I'm interested in airport lounges and in-flight meals so this was a good experience for me.

I've just had a flight with Vietnam Airlines from the central city Hue (HUI) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) in the south. At first, my flight was in the evening but on that they, the super hurricane Haiyan was approaching the central coast of Vietnam after devasting Philippines. I was so worried and I decided to move my flight to earlier one.

I went to the airport so early and the counter was still not ready. After 5 minutes, the counter opened. LOL. I was the 2nd one to check-in.

Hue Airport is small and clean. It has a new built terminal. You can shop some local snacks and specialties as gifts for friends and family.

The business lounge is small also and I dont like the way they arrange the sofas. From the lounge you can look at the tarmac and the runway. The food is few but the local food would make you happy.

I chose bánh ??t (made from rice powder) with pork sausage and sticky rice with dried pork. They also have instant noodle, fresh fruit and soft drink.

This was just a 1 hour and 5 minute flight. For economy class, each passenger got a small bottle of water. For business class, I had refreshment like this. The dessert was good.

Above the cloud, it was sunny, contrast with the stormy weather on the ground. I sat in the first row and this is the wallpaper inside the airplane. This is the lotus, the symbol flower of Vietnam Airlines.

Yes, but only one round trip flight from Vietnam toWWashington DC long time ago wwith Delta. Recently I travel around Asia. I dont have much time to travel for long. Thanks for lovng my narration :p 2013-11-27 02:56:38

Sure I expected HUI to have a brand new terminal! I had to use DAD (Da Nang) this spring because HUI has been shut down for overhaul for seven months. The result is of course spot clean, but not very exciting, and actually very similar to DAD's present terminal, therefore equally spotter friendly for non Elite/J travelers. HUI is not a hub like Danang but yeah, it needs to be improved. BMV is the best donestic airport in Vietnam in my opinion. 2013-11-28 02:45:57

For Vietnam Airlines, the levels are (from bottom to top): Silver, Titan, Gold, Platinum. I got Gold tier since October. Previously I got Titan. Titan and Gold are equal to Elite of Skyteam. Platinum is Elite Plus. 2013-11-28 10:29:26
