introduction

Welcome to part 2 of 3 flights that I'm taking today where I started my off in Salt Lake City, Utah and finishing my journey in Barcelona, Spain. This trip report will cover the tiny middle portion between Detroit and New York on Delta Connection. As I mentioned on my previous report, I went for this itinerary to be able and try out several aircraft types on my way to Europe because why not ?. I was quite excited in particular for this flight as I quite like the CRJ aircraft for there small size. Don't get me wrong I definitely wouldn't want to fly on them for flights longer than 2-3 hours but this flight will only be a quick one hour hop to NY's JFK so it should be perfect. Before this trip it had been over 5 years since I last flew on a CRJ aircraft and wanted experience it again as I had almost forgotten what it was like.
This is the routing for this trip:

Routing

I'm currently making my way from my previous flight from SLC which you can find here, where we also arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule so I had plenty of time to make my connection here at DTW.

While on my way to the other concourse, I had received a notification from Delta that thanks to my silver medallion status I got upgraded to Comfort+ which was a nice surprise.

Legroom was of course very good at 34" pitch. I'm 5'9" or 176 cm for reference.

Until next time Detroit!

A look at the overhead panel. Glad to see that these regional jets still have individual air vents which I am seeing a lot less on modern aircraft, any ideas why?

20 minutes after takeoff and we reached cruising altitude.

inflight service

Once we reached cruising altitude the FA's wasted no time and sprung into the aisle to perform the onboard service. Since I was in comfort+ I decided to take advantage of the free alcoholic drink and went for a red wine. Along with the drinks the FA's also handed out chips. Funny enough I overheard one of the FA tell the other that a guy in first class was buying everyone onboard a free drink on him which I thought was very generous of him ?. I've always heard stories of one passenger offering to buy everyone onboard a free drink but never been on a flight before when someone has offered to do so, so this was a first for me.

Unfortunately for the entire flight there wasn't much to see below, most of our route which was almost flying all across Pennsylvania was covered in a thick cloud layer.

initial descent/landing

Only a few moments later the Pilot announces that we would be beginning our initial descent into New York.

Conclusion

Overall this was a great regional flight on Delta Connection. Seat comfort was great and the added upgrade to comfort+ was a nice surprise and definitely enhanced this experience. The added legroom really did help not feel cramped as I would have thought on flying in a regional jet would be. The onboard service was really what you can expect on a short haul flight of this length so nothing to complain there. Lastly, the FA's on this flight were cheerful & professional from takeoff to touchdown.
