Check-in & lounge
After a quick and easy check-in process, I made my way to the Jewel Changi since I was early for my flight. After passing through immigration I headed to the SilverKris lounge which was renovated a couple of years ago. I much prefer it to the old lounge which was dark and didn't have a great ambience. The lounge offered a lot of space and had plenty of food on offer.
boarding
Singapore airport has security check points at each gate and US bound flights have extra checks in place. Today's aircraft was a 5 year old A350-900ULR 9V-SGG. Singapore Airlines is the only airline in the world to operate the A350-900ULR with 7 in their fleet, all of which are used for their North America routes. The cabin has 67 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration layed across 2 cabins
My seat for today's flight was 16A.
The aircraft was completely full with a handful of middle seats empty. The seats are wide and offer ample legroom. The flight was slightly delayed due to ATC congestion but after 30 minutes and a welcome drink, we were pushing back.
After takeoff, I was offered a Smoked Salmon salad which was the only starter option.
For my main course, I use SQ's 'Book the Cook' option and I ordered their famous Lobster Thermidor
After my meal, I made my own bed which was easy to make by flipping over the seat. The bed was wide at the top but got very narrow near the legs which makes this seat unpopular with some passengers.
Penhaligons amenity kit provided upon request. Limited amenities
Sunrise over the Pacific
2nd meal service started with SQ's signature satay, followed by pepper crusted tuna for starter. I booked the Nasi Lemak option using their 'Book the Cook' feature and finished off my meal with a fruit platter.
Passed some time by watching a couple of movies
Snacks provided in the galley
Descending into New York, I slept through the third meal service prior to landing.
Nice to see one of your reviews again! Beautiful photos and video! 17h+ in the air goes by so fast when flying one of the world’s top Business class services. SQ flawless as usual, though I understand that the seat design in lie flat mode can be annoying to some as you have to sleep at an angle and foot space is limited. I guess it’s best for shorter people.
Thanks for this review on the world's longest flight!
