Long Haul Flight in an economy MIDDLE SEAT!!
Celebration of Firsts
Hi everyone! This is my first-ever report :)
I Flew British Airways World Traveller economy class on the A380-800. My first time on a double-decker!! This was my first ever long-haul flight and my first time travelling alone outside of Asia.
About the Aircraft
Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet. The efficient wing design enables better fuel economy for a plane of its size. The four-engine setup provides higher thrust and reliability, making it ideal for long-range travel. It is engineered to ensure a smooth and quiet ride, reducing noise and turbulence to make long flights more restful.
Airport Check Departure
Arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 1 at around 9:00 PM and Singapore’s quick and easy process check-in desk at Row 10 meant I was left with over an hour before my boarding gate C25 opened. Sat by a window in hopes of some fun plane spotting but it was too dark sighhh.
Headed to the gate at 10:30 PM and boarding began at around 10:50 PM. Boarding was done according to Groups. I was in Group 8.

Once boarded I made my way to my unfortunate middle seat. I relied on the kindness of strangers to help store my bags in the overhead compartment. The economy seats were very compact, with little space to move, and to add to that, I was seated between 2 older male passengers, meaning I had even less space.

Takeoff process began at 11:55 PM. Departed at 12:02 AM.
In-Flight Entertainment and Meals
IFE had a wide selections of movies, including some popular new releases. I chose to watch ‘Monkey Man’. If you would like to also read my movie reviews, you can find them on my LETTERBOXD: https://letterboxd.com/scarletblack/

For first meal we got some snacks - baked pretzels (sour cream and chives) and I got some apple juice. The second meal got served around 1:30AM. The two options were pumpkin pasta and chicken w/ rice, I chose the latter. The meal was alright for airplane food standards, however there was a soba salad that were refreshingly tasty. The last meal was breakfast, which was served around an hour before landing. Two options available were a full English breakfast and vegetarian omelette. Once again I went for the latter.

Arrival and Disembarkation
Landed at 6:09 AM UK time. Immigration was also quick and easy, despite my going through the manual counter. And my luck really helped me out when the first bag I saw on the belt turned out to be mine.

Thanks for sharing your first review here with us! The A380 is as comfortable as it gets for Economy travel with the widest seats of any aircraft, but as you mention the legroom, at the standard industry 31” can feel tight for long-haul. Unfortunately, very few airlines offer more legroom these days—most are in Asia, unsurprisingly.
A little light on photos of the actual flight, understandable for a first review. It would have been nice to see pictures the meals, (hopefully in future reviews), but a very well written review with good descriptions.

Thank you for your comment! My first time on a long-haul flight so had little knowledge on what to expect. I will be sure to include more pictures in my next report 😄
Great first report! Looks like you had a solid flight on your first A380 flight with BA!
