Introduction
Welcome to another trip report!
This is a continuation of my winter Europe series to Poland/Stockholm from my hometown airport of SLC. If you want to understand how this entire trip came to be, I encourage you to read my previous TR where I went into the nitty and gritty. Nonetheless, let's continue on with the TR. This flight will be the second domestic leg on DL. This second flight would also be operated another A321neo which is one of my favorite narrow body aircraft. I also got very lucky and both me and my mom got upgraded a few days before departure to domestic first class for this short journey up to JFK. This would give me an opportunity to try out the new A321neo first class seats which I've heard mixed reviews about.
I start off my journey arriving into rainy ATL from first flight the originated in SLC.

We had arrived into concourse A from my previous flight and my next departing flight will be out from concourse B. We had a tight connection of just only 40 minutes but that was't an issue as we were able to switch terminals in a matter of minutes.

I had arrived at the gate with plenty of time to spare before boarding.

Unfortunately this gate did not offer any views of my A321neo that I'll be traveling on today.
Some information about my plane:
Flight number: DL 672
Aircraft: Airbus A321-271NX
Registration: N512DE
Delivered: December 21, 2022
Age: 1.3 years (at time of flight)

This aircraft is configured in three classes which are 20 domestic first, 42 Comfort+ and 132 Main Cabin seats for a total capacity for 194 seats. Since I had the upgrade a few days before departure, I managed to lock seats 5A & B towards the back of the first class cabin.

Boarding
Boarding began right on time and I boarded with first class group.

Seat
Here's our seats for the short hop up to NYC, 5A & B.

Directly in front of you you have a very large and highly responsive HD PTV.

These seats offer a great 37" pitch. Not to mention these seats offer a width of 21", so plenty of room to get yourself comfortable.

Hidden below the armrest was a small bottle of water.

The recline button.

Individual USB port located below the PTV.

In addition there's a individual universal power outlet located awkwardly behind next to the seat.

A very rainy morning here in Atlanta.

The overhead panel contained the usual individual air vents and reading lights.

Pre-departure beverages were offered and I went for a Jack and coke while my mom went for a mimosa. It's 5 o'clock somewhere 😅.

Cheers!

Boarding is complete and although first class is full, the economy class cabin was practically empty with an overall load factor of about 30%.

Shortly after the boarding door was closed, the FA's passed by the cabin offering complimentary headphones.

A Boeing 737-900ER parked next to us.

Air bridge getting detached from the aircraft.

The safety video began playing.

Pushback
We pushed back from the gate right on time. You can check out the entire pushback and takeoff video down below.

Cabin lights were dimmed for takeoff.

A smokey 757 engine startup.

Takeoff
This morning we'll be departing out of runway 27R.

Bye Atlanta!

Tray table
The tray table folds out of the armrest and is able to slide forward or backwards.

The tray table itself was stable and a very good size.

Seat back contents
The seat back contents only included a few items including the safety card.

Followed by the wifi and entertainment guide.

And lastly an airsickness bag.

A nice feature about the PTV is that you can adjust the angle of your screen quite substantially whenever the person in front reclines their seat. Speaking about recline, these seats offer somewhere around 8" of recline. Despite sitting the last row of the cabin, the bulkhead behind my seat was curved in a way to still allow my seat to recline the full amount as all the other seats do.

Inflight service
About 15 minutes into flight the flight attendant began the inflight service with a choice of drink.

I went for a bourbon cream and coffee.

Shortly after they came around offering premium snacks from a basket.

We reached cruising altitude at 35,000ft.

Throughout the flight, the flight attendants frequently offered more snacks and offered to replenish drinks which was nice.

The loo
I decided to pay the loo a visit located at the front of the plane.

Nice to see a full length mirror. Not sure if this feature is only for the first class bathrooms.

There was also Grown Alchemist premium hand cream available.

Overall the loo was kept clean and well maintained.

Flying over the Norfolk and the James River inlet.

Hampton Langley Air Force Base

Passing plane in the distance.

Inflight entertainment
A look at the IFE system.

Delta's IFE system, also called Delta Studio has a good selection of movies, tv shows and music to listen to.

Not to mention a few good games.

But my absolute favorite part is the interactive map which is always fun to explore.

Initial descent
Before I knew it we were beginning our initial descent into JFK. You can check out the entire descent and land video down below:

I was treated to a picturesque descent along the Jersey shore.

Seaside Heights, NJ. My parents used to bring me here every summer when I was a kid.

Cabin lights were turned on again and the FA's began preparing the cabin for landing.

During our descent the flight attendant came through the cabin offering more snacks one last time before touchdown.

Manhattan in the distance.

Landing
We'll be landing into runway 22L.

Welcome to JFK!

Arrival at gate
We arrived at the gate 16 minutes ahead of schedule, well done Delta.

On our way out the FA that served the first class cabin gave us a warm farewell.

One last view of my A321neo that brought me here from ATL, thanks for the safe and fun flight!

This concludes the trip report, thanks for reading!
