Hello everyone and welcome on board this Flight-Report!
Today, we are going to Martinique, located in the French West Indies.
On the Paris - Fort de France route, there is a choice between 3 airlines: Air France, Air Caraïbes and Corsair. TX and SS are cheaper than AF with the basic fare but my Flying Blue Gold status allows me to have a free checked bag. It will therefore be cheaper to take the basic fare on AF than the standard fare on Corsair or Air Caraïbes.
Flight routing

Orly Intl Airport
I arrive at Orly airport by car two and a half hours before take-off.
There is a lot of people in the Orly 3 terminal on this saturday morning.
My flight is expected on time, departing at D gates.
My FB Gold statut allows me to use the Sky Priority counter to checked my luggage.
The boarding pass.
I go to the security controls via the fast-track access. Not a lot of people, I only need 2 minutes to passed through the safety checks.
Heading to the D gates via the duty free area.
Although the Martinique is a French region, you have to go through the border control.
Air France lounge Orly3
The lounge is located on the 1st floor, access is by elevator or stairs
The Orly 3 lounge is one of my favorite AirFrance’s lounge. There are plenty of seating areas and a wide selection of food and drinks at the buffets. All for only 3 daily flights to Martinique, Guadeloupe and Réunion islands. In 2026, AF will transfert all there flight at CDG airport.
A little part of the buffets.
On board the flight AF842
My today’s flight is operated by a 17 years old Boeing 777-300ER, the F-GSQS. It is a high density configuration cabin with 14J, 28W and 430Y.
Boarding begins on time.
Good morning big bird !
We have to go through the small Business and Premium cabins to get to the huge Economy cabin.
My seat is the 10A, located at the first row.
On the seat, we find a pillow, a blanket and the headphones to use the entertainement system. There is also a small card signed by the crew. A friend who work at Air France left a note for the crew to inform them that I will be on board today.
The pitch is good for a bulkhead seat.
The IFE screen is large with a good quality.
For your safety…
The row number 10 has a perfect view on the GE90 engines!
Boarding ends on time, the flight is full in all cabins. The captain introduces himself and announces an 8-hour flight to reach Martinique.
Quickly after the take-off, the cabin crew will start the lunch service.
I chose the “Chicken Blanquette”, the other choice was the pastas with tomato sauce.
At the end of the lunch, we are somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean.
During most of the flight, I will spend my time talking with the cabin crew at the galley
Wifi network is working poorly, it takes a long time to send messages via Watts App.
One and a half hour before landing at Fort de France, a little snack will be served. It consist by a cheese sandwich, a drinkable yogurt and a small lemon cake.
One hour left…
Approach :
Fort de France, the capital city of Martinique.
Martinique Aimé Césaire Intl Airport
Smooth landing on the runway 10.
The taxi will be short, we arrive quickly at the terminal.
The disembarkation will go quickly, it is 30°C warmer than in Paris.
There are a lot of people at the baggage claim, two flights have just landed from Paris Orly and one from Montreal Trudeau.
I quickly collect my suitcase and hurry to get my rental car.
After an hour's drive, I reach the Club Med "Les Boucaniers" where I will spend my week of vacation!
