I waited for sometime at Terminal 2 after arriving from Bengaluru. My flight was at 10.00pm. I thought of transport options and decided to take metro train, which takes about 10mins between Terminal 1 and 2.

I checked flightradar24 to see if the flight information was available.

History:

Mumbai Airport Terminal 1B was built in 1965. This terminal is located in suburb of Santa Cruz - Vile Parle. During 1970-80, this terminal was used for both domestic and international flights. It used to have viewing gallery on the roof of the building. When Terminal 2A was built in 1981, International flights shifted to the new terminal.

Terminal 1B was used by Jet Airways, Go Air, Sahara Airways, Deccan Air.
Terminal 1A was used by Air India, Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airways.

Now this terminal is just called Terminal 1  as Air India and Indigo International flights have shifted to the new Terminal 2 at Sahar.

Terminal 1 will be closed this year and demolished for reconstructions. Terminal 1 flights will mostly likely move to Navi Mumbai Airport.

Drive to hotel

I booked taxi through Ola. Taxi stand was buzzing with people. I got in the taxi after waiting for 15-20mins. Here is where I noted the difference between Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Check  the trip report -  Air India Express IX2644 Indore to Kolkata.

The taxi driver did not ask for the parking charge, he said its included in the fare.  I could tell, he was being honest.  He informed me about Ahmedabad. I told him, I was coming after 30yrs as I used to work for Ahmedabad based company.

The road ride was smooth. I had Google map on to check the route, the driver was following. He was following the map.

Hotel

I reached hotel around 1a.m. Checked in and received the key. Reached the room and got organised my bag.

Went to bed after preparing for next day.

Conclusion

Akasa Air had a clean cabin, crew were busy on this short flight. I was served satisfactorily. Aircarft did not have wi-fi, I didn't check if there was streamed entertainment.
Flight was delayed and I was notified before reaching airport. Email was sent with gate information.

Mumbai Terminal 1 is a old terminal which is in it's final year of operation. Service was quick, counter staff issued the boarding pass in no time. security check was quick. Food options were enough as all flights operating from this terminal are domestic.

Reaching Ahmedabad airport terminal was a short ride after disembarking. Baggage was delivered in reasonable time. Taxi rank was busy.

Overall a good flight.
