Introduction

This trip report is from April 2025. After completing the Bharat Udan series it was time to return to Australia.

Air India AI311 Melbourne to Mumbai

I had booked the ticket with Indigo as I had to return to work. I didn't want to risk taking connection through Delhi with Air India.

Booking

I booked this flight through the Indigo website.

Original flight and baggage details - I had 3hrs and 50m transit.

Baggage allowance

Terminal information

I ordered sandwich and beverage during the booking process.

Booking confirmed, made payment using credit card.

Pre-departure

I received an email that the flight was rescheduled and there was an equipment change. Flight number was updated to QF2.

To confirm if the information was correct, I logged in Qantas website to check. Transit time in Singapore was reduced to 2hrs and 10mins.

Check-in

I had selected the seat and meal during the booking process, at the time on check-in, I was provided option to add more services, I confirmed my selection and received digital boarding pass.

Travel to airport

I was dropped at the airport and arrived 3hrs before departure. Indigo departure entry gate 6.

Walking towards the entry gate, where passport and booking details were checked. Handbag was scanned.

Entered the departure area and checked the check-in row.

I joined the check-in queue

Queue was short and I was at the counter within 10mins. Ground crew directing passengers to vacant counters.

I handed the passport and OCI card.My checked bag was underweight.

I was informed about the boarding gate and time. Boarding passes for both the flight were issued.

 I was done with check-in within 15mins of arriving.

Security and Immigration

I then headed towards the security check which took about 5mins. This followed immigration, handed the boarding pass and passport. Photo was taken and passport stamp. No questions asked.

I entered the departure concourse.

I decided to have breakfast.

Entered the food court

Ordered the food and paid Indian rupees ₹610 [ AUD $11.00 or USD $7.15]

After breakfast, I was in auto-mode, thinking the gate would on the north west pier.

Ready for push-back

I checked the boarding pass and realised that it was departure gate 85B 

I had to return to the departure concourse to check the boarding gate location.

I checked the boarding gate sign and followed. Passed the lounge and then took lift to lower floor.

I was early and there were few passengers in the boarding area.

Plenty of seating

I charged the phone while waiting.

Used the toilet which was clean. Staff was present to keep the toilet clean.

Boarding was called by rows. I waited for row call to join the queue.

Noticed few connecting passengers in the queue. Could recognise Indonesians, probably arrived from Saudi Arabia due to attire .

After boarding pass was scanned, waited for the bus for couple of minutes as the earlier bus left.

After a 10min ride. reached the aircraft

Bus reached the aircraft and passengers alighted.

I joined the queue to board the aircraft.

Entered the aircraft, showed the boarding pass and was directed to seat.

Last set of passengers boarded and the crew began preparing the cabin for departure.

Pilot announced there would be slight delay due to ATC clearance.

Push-back and departure

Cabin door was closed and crew performed safety demonstration.
After a slight delay, push-back commenced.

Rolling on runway 27-09, departing towards the West.

Cabin service

Cabin service commenced after 30mins of departure. I received the pre-ordered sandwich. This was followed by service for those who wanting to Buy on Board.

After the meal, Lead cabin crew - Priya came to the seat and asked if I had any suggestions or feedback regarding the flight and that I would be flying further to Australia. 
She thanked me for flying with Indigo and checked regarding my transit in Singapore. I said All was good, I was satisfied with the service.

I rested for the rest of the flight.

Descend into Singapore

Pilot came on the speaker and announced flight would commence descend, Crew cleared the cabin and window shades and seat upright. Cabin was prepared for landing.

Seated in forward section, landing feels smoother.

Aircraft arrived in Terminal 2.

Aerobridge was attached and door was opened.

Disembarkation

I collected bag from the overhead bin and walked towards the door. The cabin crew spoke with me and gave me a bottle of water.  I thanked her and exited the aircraft.

I was in the terminal building at 17.25. Checked to the departure flight information to find the gate number.
