After a few days in this beautiful town that Vancouver is, it is time to go to the next city of this trip, Portland, Oregon.
To go from Vancouver to the airport, there is the metro, direct and no change, for a ridiculeous price of CAD 2.- Amazing.
Very fast and efficient check in at the AS Counters, we have then to clear immigration for the US in Canada, which is quite handy and allows to arrive as a domestic flight into the USA. There were three open counters and around 15 people waiting. No pictures allowed, as usual with US Customs. About 10 persons had to pass an additional security check and I was quite sure that we would have to do it as well, as I have never seen so much people 'selected' to do this ^^ and we only stayed in Canada for two days.
But no, after the usual questions we were cleared to entre the sterile area.
The terminal internation has two distinct parts, international and USA only flights:
At the back, the international non-US zone, bellow, the international arrivals:
Of course, there is a Starbucks:
Excellent WIFI, free of charge and very fast:
Corporate:
The terminal is quite empty at that time:
Men and women are allowed to take children into the toilets ^^
Very limited spotting, a CRJ, my Dash arriving behind a 767-300 that pushes back for HNL:
The doors allow to change a boarding room to either an international or an US only gate:
Boarding is called on time, here we are on the tarmac ready to board:
Still no window blind, limited pitch, no recline and seat pocket almost inexistant on that bird:
Turboprop and cabin:
On time push, and we will see some action on the ground, beginning with this Dash:
And then it's our turn, via 26L with beautiful aerial shoots:
We'll have a full service this time, in a very efficient and friendly way. I asked to try the monthly micro brew, a Portland's beer, that was really good. The hostess will go twice through the cabin with the bottle to offer more to those who selected it. Horizon offers on most of its flights a local beer and a local wine free of charge to make people taste it. I loved the salty snack that was served with, specially the fried mais bits. I read on some forums that lots of people hate them, but I just love them. I asked for seconds, and received them ;)
Final approach and Willamette River:
Some brothers on the ground:
Our plane a last time:
To end this report, a bonus of Vancouver, a very nice town, friendly people, very easy going and eco friendly!
Views from our hotel room: (Renaissance Downtown, highly recommended)
Exiting town:
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: (a 10 minutes drive from dowtown, superb!)
