After 3 days spent in Sukhothai, a stunning city with amazing buddhas, we go to the Sukhothai Airport which is owned by the only airline serving it, Bangkok Airways.
The small airport is MAGNIFICENT ! small, cozy, flowers everywhere, human sized !
Near the terminal there is a mock-up of Angkor Wat… Strange as we are rather far from Angkor in Cambodia.
In a small pond there are beautiful swans, whites and blacks.
We check-in at the counter tended by 2 agents. There are 2 flights departing for Bangkok within 30 minutes.
After getting our boarding cards we get to the only security post where no less than 10 people work around !
We get in the boarding lounge which is fully opened and there are flowers, orchids everywhere !
The drinks available and snacks.
The first flight arrives and leaves 30 minutes later.
Small buses drive the passengers to the plane from the terminal and from the plane to the terminal. The passengers needing a wheelchair are driven to the planein a Toyota pick-up.
The first flight to Bangkok is ready for departure.
15 minutes later our airplane arrives inbound from Bangkok.
We do not lose any time and it is time for us to board our buses taking us to the ATR.
We board the shuttles, it is as if we were at Disneyland !
The journey is short but beautiful with flowers all around !
Our ATR72 is waiting for us. It is carrying the colours of Siem Rap and is flying for Siem Rap Airways, the sister airline of Bangkok Airways.
On board we are welcomed by a very charming flight attendant, she greets us with the traditional Wai.
The cabin, the flight is not full, much less full than the previous flight looked.
The legroom, it's OK for a 55 minute flight.
The cabin attendant does the safety demonstrations manually and the prepare the cabin for its departure.
We taxi to the opposite of the parking stand, do a turn, the propellers are in full regime… and we take off !
After take-off we can see what damages the floods did around Sukhothai.
The cabin crew starts the service and serve us a meal. On the Bangkok to Chiang mai flight we were served sandwiches, I am expecting the same thing…
Foil… weird or we have a hot dish ! And yes… it's Pad See Uw !
Yes the dish wasn't very hot but congratulations to Bangkok Airways for serving a hot meal on a short 55 minute flight on an ATR !
Stunning view !
And we have smiles all around !
The cabin is cleared and we are now waiting for our landing in Bangkok.
Night views for our arrival in Suvarnabhumi.
After a smooth landing we go to our parking stand and we taxi past a collection of Thai Airways planes.
Our airplane, at night time on arrival. We take a bus to the domestic terminal.
The arrival's board indicating where our bags will be delivered.
We are at carousel 1, the flight is in codeshare with KLM and First Baf Arrive !
While no bags appear… we read this…
I think that as there are so few passengers and the belt being so long, by the time they put the first bag and the last one, the first one hasn't arrived at the top yet !
Direction level 1 to catch a taxi that will take us to our hotel the Somerst Sukhumvit Thonglor.
