That's a nice architectural thing:
My plane, sorry, could not take it any better:
I would have had enough time to go to the lounge to indulge myself to raw vegetable, industrial cheese and packaged houmous. I could have waited at the bar to get a free alcoolic drink against a good tip, but I decided to stay near the gate area. As the wifi free of charge is, that's a good place to wait.
Roughly 15 minutes after I arrived at the gate, boarding is launched with the usual Delta sequence (see my former flight report if you don't know ^^)
Perfect and very charming welcome from the purser that will wish a merry christmas to everyone and asks everyone how they are doing.
That's the 763 cabin:
Need some rest!!
The menu, that has been handed over during boarding (and not forgoten like KLM ^^):
The entree order is taken by our purser, and as usual starting with 01A. Her nickanme is O and she will introduce herself like that. She'll ask each passenger with a smile and a very carrying attitude.
O was by far the best purser I ever had on all my flight. A pearl. I asked her for a second pillow that I received 15 seconds after my query. All her sentences were ended by a don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything else. I had a long chat with her during the flight and promised to send a positive feedback for her and her crew.

New addition to the well known amenities:
Then, something I have never seen before, the captain comes into the business cabin, stops at the first row and begins a speech to thank us for flying Delta, then the flight route, flight conditions and wishes us a lovely festive season. Every one in business applauded at the end. That was a really nice touch.
On time push back and #01 for take off:
Hot towels before the start of the service
Sauternes for aperitive (what else!). The crackers were to die for:
Assorted started, while not Haute Gastronomie, were all tasty and good:
For the entree, I took the beef, not really for the beef, but for the kale, a product that I love, and that you don't find in France for the time being. The celeri remoulade was cold, and the contrast between hot and cold was surprisingly good!
The dessert was very good as well:
Then I caught on some sleep as I really needed it. I asked O to wake me up as late as possible, no breakfast for me, but just orange juice and coffee. She did so approximately 30 minutes before arrival.
Very soft landing in Paris and a bit of spotting:
Very easy connection to the 2G where I'll find out that the flight to BSL STD 01:30 was pushed back to 03:50p and that mine, scheduled at 03:55p was to be operated with a BAe 146-300 ops by WDL, an airline that AF subcharters quite often to counter HOP!Airlinair's ATR never ending AOG's.
I won't report that flight, but a thing that made me smile: the 01:30 flight eventually left at 03:50p with an ATR72, while mine took of at 03:55p. We landed in BSL at 05:00p while the ATR flight landed at 05:15p :)
Seems that AF finally learnt from its lessons, and will put the CRK back to ORY on all but one flight. And the E170 back to CDG, for all flights…

Last but not least, one of my suitcase that I specially bought in LAS as an unbreakable, high quality, very well known brand, came out without a weal, wires looking out on one side, all side protections destroyed. After an animated talk at the AF lost and found, I was evntually allowed to buy a new one and to have it reimbursed.
The menu is the most elaborate I've ever seen in any carrier. I'm sure chef Hopkins is looking forward to your suggestions in how to improve it to obtain a 10. Just because he is a James Beard award recipient doesn't mean he knows much about food pairings and flavors.
I wish US carriers served sparkling cavas instead of cheap champagnes. Most passengers comment it tastes like concentrated cat urine anyway.
I am sure the crew would deeply appreciate your kind compliments. After introducing herself as O, I would have interjected that I only use that moniker for Oprah :).
Finally, most luggage companies offer lifetime warranties with their products. The store should be able to reimburse your credit card also. Continue with safe travels!
Thanks for sharing this flight with us and happy new year !
Another very good flight on Delta's business class. I like their approach to meals nothing too fancy but good products and large portions. My only disappointment is the tray that i personally don't like but all the rest is very good and nice.
The seats are good and comfortable and crews usually friendly and professional. As far as now I have never been disappointed with Delta and will keep on flying with them.
I like the way the tray looks. I think it's definitely more interesting and has more effort put into it than more other airlines that just cover a regular tray with a white napkin, lol.
Thanks for sharing.
Can you explain what you mean by the catering lacking refinement? Normally that's true of any US carrier including DL, but these new menus seem pretty elaborate. The appetizer tray has many interesting elements, not something you would see on a European carrier that would be considered more refined even an Asia carrier for that matter. 4 Main entree selections is really quite impressive, and one of them is duck which seems pretty refined to me. I don't think you need lobster and Foie gras to be refined. I'm actually quite impressed with DL's new menu. They've always been the best US carrier with catering and they've upped their game even more here.
Thanks all for your comments, by lack of rafinement, I meant in the tray set up : the charcuterie is simply on a small plate, the faux-wood tray looks quite cheap, same for the salt and pepper. The food itself was very good, just the way they present it.
Thanks Lords I don't need lobster and foie gras to say a menu is refined, but I won't say no to it :)
About the luggage, yes I am pretty sure that the store would reimburse it, my only concern would be to bring it back to Las Vegas from France just to get it reimbursed :)
Next time I fly with O (wish it will be the case) I'll remember your comment ^^
Ah, that makes more sense now that you explained it more. Because the food itself seems quite impressive so I was confused. Thanks for clearing that up. I would die if Oprah were on the same flight as me :-P She's like God, LOL...I'm sure she only flies private. Having a chief Purser named O is the next best thing to flying with Oprah :-P
Thanks for the report on DL's J-cabin on the B763. I've only been on the herringbone layout on the B744s so this cabin looks much more open and airy.
I know leather gives a luxury appearance, but those seats are looking a little tired.
