I then looked for the closest Alitalia lounge to my boarding gate, Alitalia Borromini was the one I had to go to.
I was welcomed in by a nice young attendant but he seemed uninterested after I walked-in.
The lounge was very empty and rather small.
I dropped of my things in a corner, plugged in my computer to charge it as well as my phone and went on to discover what the bar and buffet had to offer.
From the lounge I took a couple of pictures and found out what my plane would. I scored on the trip with Alitalia and had another special livery for my flight to Paris. EI-DSA in the Muoviamo chi muove l'Italia silver colours.
Next to our chariot was another ship in its regular colours.
After a few drinks an a rather small snack, I made my way to the boarding gate where people were queueing to board the aircraft.
Boarding for Skypriority customers started and I was soon onboard the plane. and it was full in Economy and empty in Business .
Legroom at seat 2F
Handlers are loading the last few bags on the plane.
Cabin Crew were waiting for the last couple of passengers before we could close the doors and make our way to Paris.
And we are going, taxiing by an array of Alitalia and European narrowbodies.
We turn, line up and start our take off roll.
Leaving the italian coastline
Above the clouds.
I am getting tired and I can hear the purser getting our meals ready, there is only 2 of us in Optima. While I am dozing off I think to myself, please no octopus on the tray, I hate the animal, I hate the dish, I hate the whole idea of eating it etc… I don't know why I was thinking that, now, or even ever on a plane… guess what… Yup, that's right, my subconscious knew there would be octopus salad on the tray…
Thank Heavens for the vegetarian lasagna !
I had finished my food in no time as I wasn't too hungry and getting a little tired after the long journey from NRT.
The flight was uneventful and we made our way to France in a very smooth cruise.
I was half asleep when we started to descend towards Paris and was woken up for landing.
We touched down on time and taxied to Terminal 2F and parked near a SKYTeam partner.
I was the first to get off the aircraft and went to collect my bag before heading to Paris with my Uber Car.
There she is ! First off !
I was dropped off at my hotel Monterossa part of the Astotel chain. Nice small chain of boutique hotels mainly in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

Conclusion
This was the end of my first experience with Alitalia and I must admit that it was a rather pleasant one.
The lounge was small but comfortable and quiet as there was no one at that time. I am sure I would have hated it if it had more people in. There was a decent amount of food but it all looked too dry and stuffy with so much bread ! Drinks were good too.
On board the crew was nice and courteous, very professional and ready to help. I hated the octopus salad as I have an old phobia of the mollusc and the crew can be very happy the plate didn't fly in the cabin as it would have been if it was a few years ago when I couldn't even hold a National Geographic magazine with pictures of the beast in it. It happened once in a doctor's waiting room, the magazine just flew right off my hands and I had to apologize to people...
Next report soon. On the return flight I chose Aeroflot.

Thanks for sharing this great report. I have never understood why the hell AZ keeps serving this octopus salad on intra european flight. I think that it is one of the most hated seafood in world (even I actually like it ^^)
Thanks for this report ! I personally love octopus salad but think it's not the case of most people and certainly not a wise choice for an airline meal. The Lasagna look good and you had a great crew which make up for a good trip. I have a picture of your plane on my last report from CDG to MRS ! I think it's a great livery Looking forward for the next report ;-)
You're phsychic! How in the world did you guess you were having Octopus, Lol...crazy. I'm not a huge fan of octopus either--don't have a phobia, but I just wouldn't chose it if I had a choice. That being said, I have to give AZ credit for originality--it's definitely more interesting that most dishes you see on intra-European Business class. Visually the mean does look appealing. Thanks for sharing!
