Hi, everyone! Welcome to an off-series trip report where I'll be flying to Palm Springs to attend a wedding, and to spend a few days in Los Angeles. Honestly, I was quite excited as I've never been to SoCal and that I was going for yet another wedding! So, I was really looking forward for this trip not just because of me going to new places, but I definitely needed a vacation. Anyways, without further ado, let's get on with the flight! ;)

Pre-flight


The booking process for flights were fairly simple, primarily given the fact that I had them booked since the summer. I was aware that JetBlue has seasonal service to Palm Springs, and I was able to get a ticket for the flight immediately. However, it took some time to book the return flight as I wasn't sure of how many days I would spend in LA before heading back to New York. However, I ultimately made the decision to spend at least 3-4 days in each place and easily got a return flight within a matter of days.
Anyways, back to the flight. My plan was to get to the airport by 4:00 PM given the fact that there would be a lot of traffic leading to JFK, especially during the days prior to Thanksgiving. So, I ended up leaving at around 3:15 PM which would give me a good time span to check-in, go through security, and explore the terminal before ultimately boarding the flight.

Honestly, I wasn't really familiar with the concept at first but I was able to check-in at ease as I received my boarding pass and baggage tag before dropping it off.

I have to admit, the boarding process did take longer than expected given the fact that it was going to be full, but it took about 5-10 minutes in total

It took about 15 minutes for boarding to be completed. The next thing I knew was that we were already pushing back from the gate.

During the taxi, the first officer came on with the pre-flight welcome, stating that there would be on-and-off turbulence throughout the flight, and that we would be landing into Palm Springs ahead of the scheduled arrival time.

I wasn't really interested in the entertainment choices for this flight, so I just grabbed my laptop and watched some movies and TV shows on Netflix. The speed on the inflight wifi was actually what I expected for a flight in general, given it was not too fast and not too slow.

After a few minutes, the cabin crew started to come around to take drink orders which were complimentary as well as sandwiches and other items from the menu, available for purchase.

I headed to the bathroom after 25 minutes. I have to say, I found it to be extremely small

I then decided to watch a couple of TV episodes on Netflix before ultimately calling it a night somewhere over Illinois.

Since I couldn't go back to sleep, I went to the inflight map to see where we were, and watch my content on Netflix just to pass the time.

I got up after half an hour again only to realise that we were above Arizona

Since we were already close to landing, I just thought it'd be best to sit back and resume to watching my Netflix shows until we had to prepare to land

After approximately 40 minutes, the captain came back on with his pre-arrival announcement, saying that we were now starting the descent towards Palm Springs and that we would be landing an hour ahead of schedule!
Suddenly, the cabin lights and seat belt sign came back on giving the indication that we had to prepare for landing, which didn't take long.

We landed at 8:14 PM, which was an hour ahead of schedule! The taxi to the gate was quite short too.

From then on, I proceeded outside where I met my Uber driver and then headed to the hotel for some fun and festivities!

Conclusion

Overall, this was a decent transcontinental flight with a regional airline such as JetBlue. The legroom was quite exceptional and I certainly believe that this flight was rather uneventful. This is the first time I've flown on JetBlue after 5 years, and honestly, I don't think anything major has changed in regards of service, cabin, entertainment, or catering.

However, I can't say much since this route was served on an older aircraft such as the Airbus A320-200. However, I'm glad I booked my return flight on the Airbus A321-200, so I was looking forward for some significant changes in overall service. Anyways, thanks for reading this trip report.     Great legroom which definitely improves comfort on such a long flight.

    How much was the Even More Space Option?

    Nothing different from UA or DL it seems, I guess the crew might have been better on B6.

    • Thanks for the comment! Well, from what I can remember, the Even More Space option was about $100. However, it was definitely worth it especially this being a 6 hour flight. Yeah, I wouldn't say there is any difference between JetBlue or the other major US carriers, but I'd definitely fly with B6 again in the foreseeable future. Happy travels!
