Hello everyone, welcome to another report from Hong Kong to Doha with Qatar Airways. Last year in November I was taking QR815 which departed in midnight. This time I took the earlier flight and departed at 19:40pm. There are two flights per day between Hong Kong and Doha with Qatar Airways. There are very little different between these two flights, as both of them depart and arrive at night.

I arrived at the airport at 17:30pm. There were quite a lot of people at the check in counters. It took me about thirty minutes to finish the check-in process. Then I immediately went through the security control which just took me ten minutes. My departing gate was assigned at 23.
My ride to Doha, B777-300ER, A7-BOA. She was previously operated by Cathay Pacific Airways since 2009 as B-KPM. In December 2021, she was then transferred to Qatar Airways. I flew the same aircraft back in September 2014 from Bangkok to Hong Kong with Cathay. This aircraft has a white body, which is different from the normal Qatar Airways's livery.
We departed from gate 23 tonight.
Our flight was also codeshared with British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air Serbia and LATAM Airlines. The official departure time was 19:40pm.
Next to us at gate 25, parked an Air France A350-900 F-HUVF, departing to Paris de Gaulle as AF185 at 22:05pm.
Lufthansa A340-600 to Frankfurt as LH797 at 23:25pm.
Swiss International Airlines B777-300ER to Zurich as LX139 at 23:25pm.
On the other side, Qantas A330-300 to Sydney as QF128.
I did the online check-in 48 hours before departure but it was unable to save the boarding pass in my phone wallet. I had to get a paper boarding pass.
Boarding was started at 18:55pm, this time I was in zone 2 of the boarding sequence.
Rear economy section. The interior is still keeping the Cathay Pacific Airways's seat.
Seat map of the plane by AeroLOPA. There are 6 seats in First class, 53 in business class and 235 in economy class.
My seat 62A.
Amenity Kit, protective kit, earphone, pillow and blanket were placed already on the seat.
At the end, there were two Chinese men sitting next to me, they were probably flying to Dubai. The cabin was really hot, and they were no air-conditioning. I heard at least two passengers asking why but the cabin crew was telling them because the engine was not started yet, that was why we had no air-conditioning. I was wondering because the APU should kick it and did the job…
At 19:30pm, there was an announcement informing us that the flight time would be 8 hours and 30 minutes, and we would be cruising at 36000 fleet, and expecting good weather. About 15 minutes later, safety demonstration video was played.
Pushback was commenced 5 minutes later. While we were taxing to the runway, cabin light was turned off.
At 20:08pm, we were airborne from Hong Kong International Airport.
Seconds after takeoff.
As we passed the eastern part of Lantau Island, we turned 90 degrees to the right and headed south to leave Hong Kong.
Shortly afterwards, I started watching the first movie, Ant-Man.
snacks and beverage were served. I opted for a gin tonic.
An hour after the snack service, and by the time we flew over Vietnam, or Laos, the first meal service began.
Before I got on the plane, I had already checked the menu with my phone. During the flight we would be served two meals.
I selected the Wok-fried beef with oyster sauce, with orange juice as the complementary drink.
About 50 minutes later, the crew came back to collect the tray, I requested a cup of coffee.
About 15 minutes later, I visited the toilet at the back of the plane. The rear cabin view, the loading for the flight was very high, almost every seat was occupied as far as I saw during online check-in.
The lavatory.
After I came back from the lavatory, I checked the flight map again and we were flying over Myanmar. The cabin light was soon turned off. I finished the first movie at around 23:43pm and then I took a nap for an hour.
20 minutes after I woke up, I started to watch a second movie, Jungle Cruise.
I noticed some light on the ground and confirmed that we were passing though Bhopal.
As we were reaching the western part of India, over the state of Gujarat, the cabin light was turned on again at 1:54am.
Second meal was then served at 2:13am, this time I selected the chicken option. I had an orange juice for the drink.
I finished the second movie an hour later. Afterwards the cabin turned into darkness again. For the rest of the time, I listened to some Japanese music.
soon we were getting close to the eastern coast of UAE. At 4:05am, an announcement from the cockpit informed us that we would be landing in 45 minutes. Cabin light was partially turned on, probably to help the cabin crew for the final landing preparation.
Passing through Dubai and into Persian Gulf.
First view of Doha city. Cabin light was turned off 20 minutes before landing.
Overview of Doha city.
At local time 23:55pm, we landed on Doha Hamed International Airport. Total flight time was 8 hours and 47 minutes.
Reaching the final parking position 604 at the west side of the airport. Again, we had to be transported by shuttle bus to the terminal.
We parked at a remote bay 604. Last view of the aircraft.
The total flight route. We flew through China, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, United Arab Emirates and finally reaching our destination Doha.
