Hello everyone, welcome to my new series to Asia. This report will cover the flight from Munich to Helsinki with Finnair. This was also my first time to fly with Finnair. Given that I purchase the ticket just 10 days before the flight, the price was quite acceptable.

On the day of flight I arrived at the airport at 16:04pm, about 2 and half hour to departure. Finnair as a OneWorld member, is using terminal 1 of Munich airport. From the FIDS, the check-in counters were located at concourse D.

On the way to concourse D

There were 3 counters assigned for Finnair but only 2 were opened for my flight. one for economy class and one for priority group. Although there weren't too many, it took me around 25 minutes to check my luggage. Simply there was a passenger having trouble with the scanning of the passport, which was blocking us for quite a lot of time.

I received my paper boarding passes for both flights.

Then I made my way upstairs for the security check. It was pretty smooth and without any trouble. Our plane had not arrived yet from Helsinki, and the gate was still handling the previous easyJet flight to Rome.

My plane was still somewhere in the northeast of Dresden. I was then sitting in front of the gate for the next hour.

Today we would be departing from gate D01.

I went to buy some food because I know only drinks would be provided on the plane. Once I came back to the gate our plane arrived. E190LR, OH-LKI operated by Nordic Regional Airlines, on behalf of Finnair. The plane is almost 19 years old. As of May 2026, Finnair has 12 Embraer ERJ-190 in the fleet.

At the back side of the boarding pass, there was a floor map of the gate information of Helsinki airport, which I found very useful.

At 18:01pm, while I was waiting in front of the counter in the boarding bridge, announcement was made that priority boarding would begin in a few minutes. The funniest thing was that no one came up for the priority group 1 and 2, so it jumped straight to group 3 where I belonged. I was the fifth passengers to board the plane.

My seat 27F. The seat selection for this flight costed 40 Euro and that was quite expensive. Recaro R1 seat with row pitch 31 inches. There wasn't any USB port or power socket which was a bit disappointing.

Cabin during boarding. There are 100 seats in 2-2 configuration.

Back of the economy seat. There was a coat hook on the right side of the seat.

The PSU.

Seat pocket items included the safety card, Onboard menu and the sea sick bag.

Drinks such as water and blue berry juice were included in fare, but other than that you have to pay for them.

At 18:15pm, boarding was completed. Then a few minutes later, our captain came on PA and said we were almost ready to go, the flight time would be 2 hours and 10 to 15 minutes. At 18:34pm, safety demonstration was performed in person by the cabin crew and 2 minutes later, pushback was initiated.

Terminal 1 pier has been opened since 13th April 2026.

At 18:45pm, we lifted off to the sky.

The window was a bit dirty and was a challenge for me to focus when taking pictures.

Soon after takeoff, the cabin was illuminated by some mood lighting.

Spotted a local airport.

At 19:22pm, complementary drinks were served. I had a blue berry juice and water.

I took out the Salami Panini that I brought in the airport.

Passing through Miedwie in Poland.

At 19:43pm, I visited the lavatory at the back.

After I returned to my seat, we were flying over the Baltic sea. The coastline could be seen.

Throughout the flight my only entertainment was the ebook in my mobile phone.

At 20:23pm, our captain announced that we were 35 to 40 minutes to landing, in addition weather information in Helsinki was provided.

Passing through Hiiumaa, the second largest island in Estonia.

Reaching the coastline of Finland.

Final approach.

At 21:54pm local time, we touched down on Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Total flight time was 2 hours and 9 minutes.

Mood-lighting for the approach.

We parked at gate 28.
