It's time to head home after almost two weeks in Sydney. It was a chill two weeks of being chill and hipster. I may head back again next year just to hang out for a week or two.

Singapore Airlines
Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) - Singapore (SIN)
Economy Class

Check-in and immigration were pretty much a breeze although I was stopped for some extra check. I didn't find it much of a bother though and I was really early anyway. No views outside this trip because I was unable to secure a window seat.

Kingsford is currently under renovation and thus all the hoarding.

The duty-free is consolidated and placed immediately after immigration.

Waiting area at the gate. I like the chairs and general area. The seats are comfortable and the area seems very spacious.

Boarding is announced and a long snaking queue forms within seconds. Seems like a full flight. Boarding begins with priority passengers and families.

Off we go! Heading to the plane.

photo IMG_3761

Yes it is! I did a fist pump in my head to celebrate!

Seated at the aisle this flight. A look at the new IFE.

I can have the flight map up together with the flight data at the same time.

The main screen is now touch as well. Let the poking commence.

SQ's usual hot oshibori is given out.

Followed by a menu.
photo IMG_3777

A closer look at the offerings for you guys, although most of it is standard fare on SQ.

Another look at the seat. I must say though, the new earpieces given out by SQ is terrible.

Watching The Hobbit. The screen resolution seems to be much improved too!

You can choose subtitles without pausing the movie. Nice!

Singapore Airlines never fails to impress. The updated Economy cabin is a welcome upgrade to make even seasoned travellers like myself excited. The food is of high standard and the seat was comfortable. Unfortunately, the person sitting beside me kept rolling over to my side, making it slightly uncomfortable. Still, it was good flight and I have no complaints whatsoever.

    Thank you for this report,

Nice flight! Ice cream is a pretty good bonus and more than all,
I dream other airlines would come back to 3-3-3 cabin like SQ :( :( :(

    See you!

Thanks for sharing this trip report.
As always, it looks great what Singapore Airlines offers. Nice service and the new Singapore Airlines Economy Class looks very nice, especially the 3-3-3 configuration is still the best in the 777.
I have to agree with Benoit75008, it would be great if more airlines come back to this config. The 3-4-3 feels very crowded, when the flight is full. I don't want to know how it feels in the 2-5-2 configuration in some AA 777.

Thank you for sharing this FR with us!

The new cabin looks great, the 3-3-3 configuration makes it look spacious unlike the 10-abreast layout in other airlines.

IFE looks fantastic from your pictures, very impressive with a great resolution. The touchscreen controller is a big plus.

Seat pitch seems to be decent, catering doesn't look bad either.

Overall a great flight with SQ, a fantastic hard-product combined with a great soft-product.

    See you!

Great report! I'll be heading to Sydney in 2 months, I can't wait! Though it won't be chill I'm going to try to squeeze in a lot of Australia and New Zealand into 3 weeks--I'll probably need a vacation from my vacation.

SQ already had a top notch Economy product, now with the new cabins, it's probably the best Y class period. SQ is a leader is all classes of service--and now they have Premium Economy too. These new cabins loon really nice and modern. They look spacious as well and the seats look wide. With so many carriers going down the path of 3-4-3 in Economy, it's nice to know there are still humane 3-3-3 options out there. I can't imagine a premium carrier like SQ or CX would ever go to 3-4-3 in a 777, but I guess you never know.

    Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy your trip! I do believe its getting warm down under.

I do believe that this new product is only on the 777-300ERs which is pretty sad considering how good it is. I do hope they reconsider and implement it onto their other planes too!
