British airways - a319 - palma de mallorca to london gatwick
Hola! Welcome to this flight report.
This is the 3rd flight out off 3 flights I took on my short Spanish trip, go check out the previous two if you like.
In this report I shall take you along the journey from the beautiful Spanish Island Mallorca back to London Gatwick.
This flight took place a few months before the global Coronavirus outbreak began.
After spending just little over 26 hours on the island it was time to head for the airport home.
I stayed in the lovely beach resort of Can Pastilla which is just under 5 minutes away by taxi from the airport.

As this was early January the airport is not as busy like it will be in the summer months.
Jet2 Holidays offer a huge selection off seasonal destinations across the UK to Mallorca.
The Terminal is spotless from dirt! even the floor was shining… but be careful as I did slip over.
Luckily for us we didn't have any cases to check in so we headed straight for security.

Just before entering security you walk alongside tons off displayed model.
Great selection of models such as Spantax, Air Madrid, Varig and much more.

Security checks was a breeze, hardly anyone in line and the scanning process being hassle free.
The airport has a huge duty free store with other eating/ shopping outlets, such as Burger King and McDonalds.
Mallorca Airport has lot of long escalators going to the different gate zones.

This evenings flight will be departing from Gate A10 for a scheduled pushback at 18:15PM
Little while after sitting down our aircraft turned up.
British Airways Airbus A319-100, registered G-DBCC aged almost 15 years old when this flight took place.
She was delivered brand new to BMI in May 2004 and operated for the airline until the merger with British Airways in 2012.
BA have operated her ever since.

Watching the passengers leave and cases unloaded, I spotted other planes passing by.
It was soon for us to board, taking seats 18A and 18B we strapped out belts on and now waiting for pushback.
Whilst taxing towards the runway we passed a few Iberia Regional CRJ1000 jets and an A321 Iberia Express.

After waiting for other aircrafts to depart it was soon our turn, hurtling down the runway into the dusky sky over the Balearic Sea.
Smooth climb up with no wind turbulence at all, taking a sharp right turn heading back towards the island and over the airport below.

Unfortunately I didn't take much photos during the flight, although I did managed to get a few seat and toilet cubical shots.
The leg room here in economy is decent enough but not the best, suitable for a short flight like this but any longer it can get quite uncomfortable. I have had more legroom on Ryanair flights!
On the plus side each passenger has the aircon unit above them, which already is more than you get on a long hauled BA aircraft.

The tray table available is very accommodating which folds down nicely with the curved shape to go around your body.
You can also hang your coat on the peg hook and on the tray table locking clip.
There is also the standard seat pocket in front with onboard literature, sick bag and safety card.

Unless you fly in business class there isn't any complimentary food/drinks for economy. (It has since changed during the pandemic as BA stopped onboard buying but provided a snack and drink of water on flights).
British Airways at the time had a partnership with the British company M&S Food (Marks & Spencers). Offering a variety off M&S branded products such as sandwiches, crisps, chocolates and much more.
I opted for the meal deal which came with a roasted chicken & bacon sandwiches, mini jaffa cakes and a raspberry flavoured fizzy water.
Here also is the safety card for the A319 aircraft.

20 minutes before the start of decent I quickly used the restroom at the aircraft rear.
Not alot going on in here, just the standard amenities such as the toilet, sink and a giant mirror.

Just before the decent began we flew over Paris! Can you spot the Eiffel tower?
Soon after seeing Paris we started to drop altitude over the English channel and into thick clouds.

We got into a short holding pattern over Brighton whilst other aircrafts landed.
Braking hard onto the tarmac we swiftly left the runway towards the terminal. Passing alongside great aircrafts such as:
TUI B757-200
Norwegian B787-8
Sadly both airlines have retired these aircrafts since.

That was it, our Spanish flying adventure came to an end.
Like always with British Airways you get what you pay for, a little bit off British luxury but nothing to major.
The airline can improve on their onboard product as I do feel they have gone towards the low cost airline style for their cabins.
Apart from that BA does offer reasonable ticket prices and always reliable.
Thank you for viewing and hope you enjoyed this report.
Have you flown with British Airways? what are your experiences with the airline….drop them in the comment section.
I already have published reports on many other airlines/ aircrafts with plenty more to come.
Until the next report,
Keep flying and smiling :)
