The routing so far:
After a wonderful week in Florida it was already time to bring the car back to the brand new Rental Car Center, a few miles away from the terminal but linked with an automated train system. The new facility is really great compared to what it was before.
Good bye little pony:
Heading upstairs to the train:
It's new and very nice!
A train arriving:
The TPA MRO hangar, the left Boeing 737 seems to be an ex- Comair and the one one the right an ex 734 Combi Alaska. I had flown to Barrow with that particular bird. Sad that AS retired them all.
A few Airbus:
Arriving at the terminal:
At the DL counter things get a bit complicated: I have a one way ticket TPA ATL YUL but my brother flies back home directly with two tickets: a TPA ATL and a ATL CDG BSL. No worries to check my bags to YUL and his to BSL but the system refuses to print his boarding pass from ATL. The agent tries since she is sure it should work as she has access to it. But impossible. She advises to check this at a transfer center in ATL.
No worries I have 2H30 connection time and my brother has 4.
We went to the gate via the automated train:
Security is right after the train arrival:
We then went to the DL Lounge, that was pretty quiet:
The offer was alright, here the juices: (hard drinks to be ordered at the bar)
Toaster and pastries:
Cereals, fruits, cheese:
I then went to spot a bit with this JetBlue A320:
Shortly before the flight we went to the gate. Here the information screen:
A full flight today:
Our plane waits for us:
The Renaissance hotel:
Another on time boarding and we are in the jetty down to the aircraft:
The A321 Cabin:
There are 20 Domestic First Class seats:
A big and nice IFE:
Water bottles are already available:
Connections for power:
And a Bailey's for us as welcome drink:
Followed by an on time departure:
738 and A320 AA:
737-800 Xtra Airways:
Boeing / Airbus AA:
The flight path:
A nice little cuttie SF340:
19L-1R for us today:
Don't want to leave :(
America's most hated airline:
Hope to be back soon:
ATL is not that far away:
Only snacks available on such a short flight:
I would have loved, as for the way down, more healthier choices. But this is and will be a dream.
Starting our descent:
The houses in the forest look awesome:
Atlanta in distance:
But not only:
A 717 DL and the iconic ATL tower:
Another 717 arriving:
A twin brother:
Now gone, this MD88:
We docked next to this 737-900ER:
The A321 is really a nice plane with a comfy seating. The IFE is great. My only concern was the lack of healthy options in the snack basket.
The lounge in TPA is nice, not the best one in DL's portfolio, but nice.
TPA is a nice airport to fly from with a modern and functional rental car center. ATL is super easy to connect.
As usual, thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next part.
