After a few nights in Dubai for my birthday and my longest flight since the pandemic began, it was time to fly back to Heathrow via Paris with Air France on the Boeing 777-200ER.
Again, during online checkin, AF were offering upgrades to business class for under £500; it seemed too good not to treat myself to the upgrade. This was a (rare) day flight back to Paris, departing Dubai at 1010am and landing at 1530pm.
The Skyteam Lounge at Dubai was closed however we were able to make use of another (I forget which one) .
Here's our Boeing 777-200ER for the flight back to Paris CDG, the 23 year old F-GSPC.

I always get that really excited feeling when flying in Business class. It's not often I'm able to do this but really enjoy it when I am able to!

Today, I chose Seat 6A to get a good view of the engine; row 7 behind has a window missing.
Lots of storage space and a pillow, blanket and coat hanger were placed at each seat.

Pre-departure Orange Juice or Champagne were served (I obviously chose the Champagne). Amenity kits were also distributed once everyone was onboard. The seat was really comfortable and good feeling of privacy.

We pushed back slightly behind schedule and those GE90s roared to life! Flaps were set and we were on our way to the departing runway. It was rare for me to leave DXB in the daylight as most KL/AF flights usually depart in the early hours of the morning.
Nice to see some A380's on the move again too!

Lining up for takeoff….

Views as we climb out of Dubai.

Can just make out the Burj Khalifa

Climbing out above the Persian Gulf.

As we settled in, the very friendly cabin crew distributed the menu.

As well as the options from the bar.

The starter was served first, a very fresh salad. The Duck fois gras and apricot chutney were delicious however I skipped the crab terrine as most seafood is not to my taste.

I opted for the Chicken Supreme, which again, was absolutely delicious. I think I started eating before taking the picture….

Air France cabin crew were again very friendly and attentive during the flight; they were continually offering refills and a self service bar with some snacks and chocolates, was available at the galley too.

Prior to landing, a light meal was served consisting of fresh fruit, sandwiches, another desert and a final champagne . No choice was offered this time however tasted very good.

Not before long, we were beginning our descent and approach into Paris CDG.

500GBP seems a bit steep to upgrade on a 7h flight, but I imagine it was worth it based on the original price of the ticket. The catering looks really good and end--not many airlines will serve foie gras in J! Usually reserved for F
Thanks for sharing!
That seat definitely gives you a very good angle of those powerful 777 engines, though 500 GBP I'd consider quite steep myself too like Kevin as it's partner is offering 400 euro upgrades for flights of 12 hours long, but so long you've gotten all enjoyment out of it, who cares? Thanks for reporting! :)
