Hello Everyone,

Welcome onboard Delta flight 123 from Edinburgh to Boston.  One of their newer routes from EDI, I wanted to tick this off on my map and have a short connection onwards to JFK (how wrong was I, however that’s for another trip report).

I drove to Edinburgh and parked at one of the long stay car parks costing around £25 for the 5 day trip.  Was able to download my boarding pass on the fly Delta app, this can be a hit or miss when travelling international.  As I had hand luggage only, I headed through security and went to the Aspire Lounge.

Same issue as my last trip, it seems Delta “has not renewed their contract with Aspire for Elite members however if travelling in Business Class only, can use the Plaza Premium Lounge”.  Somewhat disappointing however the kind agent on the desk waved me through to the lounge as he remembered me.

Today we are flying on N394DL, a 28 year old Boeing 767-300ER.

Boarding commenced a little behind schedule, it looked to be a full flight to BOS today with the seatmap showing only 2 empty seats in Economy.

View while boarding, soon to be almost full.  A blanket and pillow was already on every seat.

Parked next to the Westjet 787.  EDI seems to be building it’s North American destinations this summer with Westjet, Air Canada, United and also Delta with 3 flights to JFK, BOS and ATL.

Flight crew announced a flying time of 6hrs 50mins with some turbulence forecast around 1hr into the flight and again maybe two hours before landing.  Early arrival expected despite running late.

Pushing back and on way to Runway 24.

Takeoff…

Soon after takeoff, crew distributed headphones, eye shades and bottles of water.  Meal service commenced around 1hr after departure with the usual choice of chicken or pasta.

The meal was ok, main was a bit gloopy and stodgey.

Views as we cross the Atlantic.

Snacks and drinks were available in the galley.

Flight passed by uneventfully and was a pretty smooth ride.

As we got nearer Boston, crew distributed some wraps, chocolate mousse and another drinks service.  I chose the Asian Chicken. Was really spicy though.

Then began our descent.

Pre-landing chocolates were given out too.

  • Nice report as always! Delta do a good job of keeping the cabins on these older aircraft looking fresh and new. I like the look of Delta's meal services--the portions seem larger than if it were on a traditional tray, especially the appetiser. Pre-arrival meal is very light, but that's become the norm for all carriers on short TATL these days.
