I had been made aware of a special promotion with Lufthansa that happens usually once a year, but not always and not from all airports : the "Fly with me" offer.
If you buy one ticket in business, the second one is free of charge. As I go every year to Jordan with my mother, this was the perfect occasion to go twice for the price of one trip :)
For this promotion, the airport of departure was only BRU. The price to AMM from BRU was at 750€, meaning 375€ per person. Super good deal.
I added flights with SN from BSL to BRU and since they were re-opening the line after Covid, there was a special business class offer for 180€ per person. Bringing the ticket to Jordan to 555€ per person in Business.
Later on SN decided to cancel the flights, and we were rebooked through FRA, not bad, it meant more miles :) The only downside was an overnight in BRU on the way to Jordan, paid with my Marriott Rewards.

a little surprise from lufthansa
We had a pretty short layover and stayed only a couple of minutes in the lounge. As we were heading to our gate, I received a text message from LH that our flight is cancelled. Cool to receive such a message at 3:52 for a flight leaving at 04:20. I went to the lounge deck and asked about it and the agent told me that we have been rebooked onto Brussels Airlines but at 09:30P, meaning a roughly 5H+ delay. She also said that we should be lucky since most of the passengers will only fly a day later as the flights are all fully booked.

With plenty of time available, let's have a look at the buffet:
Dips:
Soups:
Desserts:
We started with an aperitive drink:
And as we had plenty of time, made a special mix of tagada and vodka:
My afternoon dinner :)
It was really good. Eventually the time flew, between calls, internet checking and eating :) Our flight was leaving from the B gate, we then had a bit of a walk
the flight
FRA was messy that evening, lots of people at the service desk:
This way for us:
Second surprise of the day, the pilot did not park the plane right, and it was impossible to get fuel this way. They had to reposition the plane with a push back, meaning an additional 30 minutes delay…
Our plane:
321neo:
Our boarding screen never showed the delay:
And boarding …. at least!
Aircraft door:
The welcome was pretty nice, no need to wear a mask onboard SN! Cool!
My first time aboard a Brussels Airlines bird:
Seats are similar to LH, the major difference is that there are no curtains between J and Y.
The pitch is ok:
Safety Card:
The BOB for the coach class:
.
I didn't find it specially interesting.
Boarding completed:
We left 45' late:
Take off 20 minutes later:
I was pretty curious to see what would be on offer on this flight and this is it:
A snack basket with items from the BOB is offered, you can either choose salty or sweet but not both. Very, very premium indeed :(
The only thing that was premium was .. the glass.
Thanks God it was a super short flight and we had dinner at the lounge, but how come an airline can sell this as business class??
We landed 20 minutes behind schedule in BRU, the flight time was really short so we could make it up a bit.
Leaving the plane:
And the way to the luggage hall pretty long:
We arrived at 11:09 at our belt:
And at 11:25 still no sign of them …
We got them after another 20 minutes wait and then made our way as quick as possible to the exit and to the Sheraton which is just in front of the terminal:
Here we are:
Nothing special, the only advantage is being in front of the terminal :)

Conclusion
We were happy to have been rebooked same day and also happy to be given the opportunity to try SN but what a disappointment. The service is close to zero, the crew was doing their job but was not so friendly. Seats are NEK as per LH standards but even less comfortable.
Nothing bad to say about FRA nor BRU apart from the long wait for the bags to arrive.
The SEN Lounge was perfectly adequate, time flew there.
Next part will be online soon, thanks for reading!

A last minute cancelled flight sucks, but I guess with all the madness in travelling in Europe this summer that a 5h delay isn't too bad. Last month I had a last minute cancellation and was rebooked for a flight 28h later, as a oneworld Emerald! Even though there were 3 flights before it...they were all completely full.
I was interested to see what J service on SN is like since I don't see too many SN short-haul J reports on this side and wow...
I was pretty curious to see what would be on offer on this flight and this is it:
Holy s*** that's BAAAAAAAAAAAAD
Yikes...I had no idea SN were so bad in short-haul J...and no curtain between cabins makes it even less exclusive. BA/IB short-haul J looks downright luxurious in comparison.
This summer is a real madness in Europe, two weeks ago I went to Ireland for a week it was the first time of my life I travelled with only hand luggage. Hard to manage but managed it :)
Last minute cancellation are a pain, for us frequent travellers, we often have plan B or ideas, but what about another passenger?
SN is really bad in J for short hauls flights, even AF does better, means a lot ^^
If I ever do fly with Brussels Airlines in the future, I'll stick to economy on short haul and let them offer a free upgrade. I've done flights in Europe with BA & AY- both are miles better!
Could not agree more, take it in coach, it will be ways better. For us it was part of the ticket, but I would have been more than angry if I'd paid for that.
