Hello everyone,
This is the 2nd leg of my RTW report (or 2nd part of the 1st leg depending on how you look at it).
The 1st leg can be found here:

Nothing much to report here other than it was a connecting flight to Dubai. After deplaning, we headed through security and then the Austrian Airlines lounge. The first pic is taken from the lounge. We had a 4.5 hour layover and we made the most of it by taking a nap at the lounge. I did partake of the shower facilities and it was clean and well kept.
View from the lounge
View of our bird from the gate area. Turned out to be the same bird we took from YYZ.
OS B777
Since we had a few minutes to kill before boarding, we walked down the concourse and took some pics of the different birds parked around.
Panoramic shot from my Olympus cam
Boarding began with business class first. J class passengers were put into the holding area right in front of the gate itself while economy were roped off behind us. It was a full flight in both classes. Pic of my seat with the Mrs next to me.
Amenity kit.
Screen in front of me.
Logo at the front.
Pre-departure champagne.
Menu pics. I did not post all the drink selections as it was the exact same on the previous flight.
Lunch service started with appetizers. It was cart service again and I asked for a sampling of all choices plus the creamy tomato soup. Everything was fantastic except for the cold eggplant which you see at the bottom of the plate.
For the main, both of us went with the butterfish which was a bit dry and overcooked but the fennel puree was awesome.
Rounding out dessert, I went with the strawberry parfait which was good. The Mrs went with the banana chocolate tart which was super chocolaty for my liking.
Finally, the coffee menus were distributed and I went with the Baileys Coffee which was super strong.
We landed on time in Dubai with the pilot hitting the runway pretty hard. Could not take any pics as I in the middle row. We passed by all the gates at Concourse C and parked at a remote stand even though there were many gates available that night. No idea why that happened. Proceeded to immigration which was an absolute zoo and each line was at least 45 minutes. Had family pick us up after we got our luggage as we had 2 hours to freshen up and change before Emirates limo picked us up. :)
Next report – DXB-BOM with Emirates Business Class lounge in Concourse A.
The new Austrian business class seat looks really awesome.
The glass & the Duval Leroy champagne are the same as Air France. I thought AF was the only major company not using stemmed glass for wine & champagne.
The triangle plate are the OS signature and the food looks really good. We also clearly see that the dishes are prepared in the galley and not simply warmed up.
Thanks for sharing this report !
Air Canada also does not use stemmed glasses for wine. Don't remember if they serve champagne. :)
Since you pointed out that the fish was dry as a shoe sole, it made me wonder the point of having a dedicated cook on board Austrian flights if the results are not memorable for the right reasons. I noticed the picture shows no moisture on the fish and no sign of gazpacho, a savory blend of ripe tomatoes, garlic, wine vinegar and extra-virgin olive oil.
Hope the trip builds lasting memories with the Mrs.!
Thanks for sharing this report, Austrian's J class is drastically improved, looks good. In my opinion, the food portions are a wee bit small :-P
Gosh I hate this terminal, VIE made a poor choice in design.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this FR
Great seat
I find the catering to be average : overcooked fish and the dessert could have been better
Thanks for the report! Looking at your photos, the footrest area seems a bit small. Was it comfortable when stretching out to sleep in those seats?
Hey Quirrow, there was enough room to stretch out but yes, the footrest area was small.
I note that the power plug is both easily accessible and multistandard, which is a plus (in some other airlines, they are next to unreachable and only Type A).
The triangular shape of the plate looks more eye-pleasing than convenient.
There is a fee for parking at a gate rather than at a remote stand. The answer could be as simple as that.
Thanks for this FR !
