Review of Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong to Taipei in Economy

Introduction

Having checked that previously I did not take some good photos of those red leaves in Kyoto, Japan, I decided to plan for a trip to visit this beautiful country again this autumn. For a trip, why not try something new instead of traveling with CX again? Therefore I decided to take a transfer plane at Taipei International Airport this time to visit the Kansai Area in Japan. 

But first thing first, I still need to travel to Taipei. I decided to pick up the last flight to reach Taipei from Hong Kong in order to shorten the transit time. Thinking that from Hong Kong to Taipei it takes only around 1.5 hours and so I decided to take the economy class flight to Taipei.

It was glad that the in-town check in was reopened again at Hong Kong Airport Express Station. It is really a nice service, as I fly after work, my office is near the Airport Express Station and I do not need to carry those luggage to my workspace before arriving at the airport. But unfortunately that currently only CX offers in-town check in service with a limited amount of serving time ( to around 15:00 as I remember). Hope that more airlines will reopen their counters at the Airport Express Station. 

Since the boarding pass was got from the in-town check in, the gate information was not available yet.

Then after work, I took the Airport Express and arrived at the airport. There are some lounge admission tickets available for me, and so I decided to visit the Pier business lounge operated by CX before my flight.

Christmas is coming and there are some decorations at the airport.

It was not my first time to visit this lounge, and the experience is still wonderful. The environment is cozy and clean. But I still hope that CX could offer more choices of food at the lounge. It is also great to enjoy a wonderful shower in the shower room. 

Enjoying a glass of champagne and the wonderful signature drink Cathay Delight before the flight. And I still think the chinese selection of food is better than the western selection of food in the lounge. 

The fruit juices at the tea corner are also great. I quite like the fruit combination of those three juices.

This time I just pick an economy class seat to reach Taipei. Still the seat is comfortable.

Suddenly cannot adopt to a smaller size of a TV screen, after enjoying several business class flights previously. But the screen is an interactive one and the response time was fast after i click on the screen (not include the interactive map). The system still offers a wide variety of TV programmes and music to enjoy during the flight. The interface is clean and easy to navigate. The seat is more comfortable than what I imagine. There is still plenty of legroom. Maybe I should consider to take more economy class flight to save my miles. Haha. But it takes a while before loading the flight map successfully. At some points I even thought that the system was hang, as the screen freezes for a long time.

Still they offer dinner for this short flight. But sadly, there was no menu information displayed at the system and so I don't know what exactly this meal consists of. There is no choice of meal, and the meal consists of choy sum, a vegetable that Hongkongers often eat, and I guess that the meat there is beef? Yet the soy sauce adds moisture to the dish and I think the amount of the soy sauce is appropriate, such that the rice is not too watery and too salty.

The flight was short that after I finished an episode of a classic TV drama from TVB, and it was time to prepare for landing. So there was not much to write for this flight. The TV drama is using airline as the story background. And the theme song of the drama is so nice. 

It was smooth to pass through the immigration of Taiwan, maybe is due to the fact that this is a night flight. But my comment on Taoyuan Airport is different later on.
