CABIN SEAT

Sit pitch of economy class was about 32 inches.

There’s a 9 inch personal TV on the middle of the seat, a pocket on the right hand side for some small items, a mirror on the left hand side.

Can’t believe that this product has bee for 20 years and never re-configured.

The flights pushed back at 08:08(GMT+8), two minutes ahead of schedule time, and take off at 08:34(GMT+8).

AVOD SYSTEM

The 9 inch personal TV screen contains a AVOD system, movies, TV program series, musics can be chooses. The flight information page also shows the flight map and the flight info.

The resolution of the screen was a bit low, and it was hard to control the AVOD system.

Meals onboard

CATERING

At 08:47(GMT+8), which 13 minutes after take off, the cabin crew started the breakfast service.

Since there’s only one hour flight time on this flight, there’s only one choice on the meal service.

The menu today are as follows:

• Potato and cucumber salad
• Onion chicken rice
• Ritz sandwich cracker cheese
• Apple Juice

Coffee and tea also served afterwards.

The taste of the rice was not bad, it was a hot meal at least. The portion was enough even I didn’t had time to eat the cheese cracker!

CI usually takes double catering on Hong Kong to Taipei sector. However, the meals on the flight is the only flight with loaded at Hong Kong due to the aircraft was parked at Hong Kong last night.

DUTY FREE SERVICE AND DECENT

After finishing the catering service, the cabin crew proceeds the duty free service, the flight began to decent.

The seat belt sign of this flight turned on all over the flight journey.

The flight touched down at Taipei Taoyuan Airport on 09:55(GMT+8) and arrived at gate A7 on 09:59(GMT+8)

  • Hi there, thanks for sharing your first report here with us! Nicely done !

These CI A330s really have a very retro cabin! The seats do look quite comfortable, though. As, you mention it’s time for a refresh after 20 years in service! Nevertheless it’s nice to have a PTV on such a short flight, as tiny as it may be.

The meal looks quite nice. I’m always impressed how there are hot meals in Economy on such short flights in Asia!

Thanks again for sharing and welcome to Flight-Report!

    • Hi Kevin, thanks for your words.

I don't think CI will re-config those A330s, as those aircraft will be replaced by B787 in the forseeable future.

Cold meals can also be found in Asia, but just limited flights only. I hope I will have chance to share on this site.

  • Welcome to Flight-Report, thanks for sharing your experience with us 😀

  • Welcome to FR! Those are ancient Panasonic (3000i?) screens!

  • Thanks for sharing this report on CI and welcome to the site. The A330 cabins are relics and a far cry from what you’d get on JX, but the good condition of the cabin highlights how much Taiwanese carriers maintain their aircraft. Service is excellent for a <500 mile flight and is better than what you’d get in a premium cabin on a similar length in the US.

    • Hi NGO85, thanks for your words.

Don't take CI's A330 to compare with JX, as Starlux is always that Hermes on the sky!😜
