Hello everyone, welcome to the third part of the trip. This report will cover the short flight from Hong Kong to Taipei with EVA Air. The Hong Kong-Taipei route was the most busiest international route in terms of passenger volume in 2024. This time we would be flying with A321ceo. In 2024, EVA Air has a total of 17 A321ceo, but they will be phased out by 2032 and to be replaced by A321neo. The A321ceo is the only single aisle aircraft in EVA Air's fleet.

On the day of flight, I arrived at the airport at 9:00am. The check-in counters are located at aisle E. The counters were mostly not occupied, and my luggages were checked in no time.

The security check and immigration were very empty and in 20 minutes after entering the terminal, I got everything done. Then I went to McDonald for a quick breakfast. This place is very nice for spotting airplanes.

I spent half an hour in McDonald and visited the Sky Bridge, which is very famous for spotting aircraft.

There was a EVA Air B787-9, B-17806 to Taipei, but this was not our ride today.

Japan Airlines JA845J, B787-8 was pushing back and departing to Tokyo Narita Airport as JA736. It was really amazing to watch the plane passing below me.

Finally, my ride to Taipei arrived. As of November 2024, EVA Air has 17 A321ceo. In the future they will be replaced by A321neo.

The B787-10 was pushing back and departing to Taipei as BR892.

Boarding time was approaching and I headed back to my boarding gate 26. The flight was also code-shared with Hong Kong Airlines.

The boarding passes I received at the check-in counter.

EVA Air A321-200, B-16225 would bring us to Taipei Taoyuan Airport. The plane was delivered to EVA Air in May 2016.

Boarding was started at 11:01am.

My seat 27A

Seatmap by aeroLOPA. There are 8 seats in business class and 176 seats in economy class.

Earphone was distributed.

Back of the economy seat. There was no PTV on the back side of the seat.

Within 10 minutes, boarding was completed and safety demonstration video was showed on the overhead TV.

Air bridge was then retracted.

Pushback was initiated at 11:23am.

Taxing to the runway.

We waited for a long time at the holding point before we can take off.

30 minutes after leaving the gate, we took off from runway 25L at 11:54am.

Shortly after takeoff.

Passing through the Lema Islands.

10 minutes after takeoff, the LCD monitors were lowered and airshow was played.

Then a tv program by Talking point, Is Chocolate Really Good For You? was played.
15 minutes after takeoff, a hot meal was served. The main dish was Braised Pork on Rice with tofu and egg, together with salted egg yolk and a drink. It was very delicious and metal cutlery was provided.

During the meal service, I had a cup of tea.

At 12:37pm, our captain announced that the landing time would be 13:13pm and we would start the descend in 10 minutes. The ground temperature in Taipei was 24 degrees Celsius.

First sight of the coastline of Taiwan.

The weather was not good in Taiwan.

At 13:12, we touched down on Taipei Taoyuan International Airport. Total flight time was 1 hour and 18 minutes.

Reached the parking gate C3.

Total route.

Thanks for reading.
Thanks for sharing this FR, bad luck to have gotten a flight on an A321 (no IFE or charging) given the wide-body traffic between these two cities. I’m sure the A321neos will have competitive hard products to what KE and JX has done. Otherwise, BR offers an excellent soft product and it’s good that they have kept trays and metal cutlery even on these short routes when the trend has been to move to boxes.
