This trip report will cover the first leg of this long journey.

Introduction
Welcome everyone to a new trip report series! I will be starting my journey once again from my hometown airport of SLC and taking this journey across that Atlantic to Krakow, Poland on both Delta and Ryanair. At the time DL was having fantastic reward redemption offers on certain European destinations. On this journey I would be accompanied by my mom and we settled with purchasing our tickets for Stockholm as we've never been there before (we plan to spend a few days there on our way back). On this trip we planned to visit two Polish cities including Krakow and Wrocław before taking another Ryanair flight back to Stockholm where our trip will end. Now let's get the journey started 😉!
My first leg of this journey would be a red-eye flight from SLC to ATL.

Welcome to Salt Lake City International Airport.

Thanks to my gold medallion status I can utilize the Sky Priority lane.

Check-in

A few days before departure I was pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to Comfort+ on the first leg of this journey. Since my mom was also traveling with me on the same reservation, she also got to enjoy my status benefits and also got upgraded on this leg with me. Only down side was that we were separated but she'll only be a row in front of me which was no big deal.

Check-in and baggage drop off went very smoothly and in total took no more then 5 minutes. Now I'm off to security.

Security control went very smoothly and thanks to my TSA pre-check I was airside in just five minutes.

Delta Sky Club
Since I had a little bit of time before boarding would start, I decided to pay a visit to the SkyClub.

Here's a look at some of the food options that is being served tonight.

As I usually do per usual, I got a little bit of everything to get a taste of and then if there's something I really like then I just go back up to get some more to not be wasteful.

Overall the food offerings tonight was very good and everything tasted great, especially the potato casserole which I got more of!

To finish off the meal I went and got a latte.

I had a pleasant time here but now it's time to head to the gate for our flight to Atlanta.

Our flight is the 11:20p departure to Atlanta but currently has a delay of an hour and five minutes. I wasn't aware of the delay until I arrived at the airport. However, the agents were apologetic and told me the reason of the delay was due to storms in Atlanta (where my aircraft originated) which I greatly appreciated.

Today we'll be departing out of gate A29.

My aircraft
Here's my Airbus A321neo that'll be taking me down to Atlanta tonight. N507DZ was delivered new to Delta from Airbus on Oct. 13, 2022 making her 1.5 years old at time of this flight. Coincidently I've actually flown this airframe before last year from Los Angeles to Seattle which was very cool. And to make this even more special, it was my very first time flying the A321neo on Delta (you can read that report here).

This aircraft is configured in three classes which are 20 domestic first, 42 Comfort+ and 132 Main Cabin seats for a total capacity for 194 seats.

Boarding

Boarding began right as the crew gave the all clear. I boarded with Comfort+ group.

Some information about my plane:
Flight number: DL 477
Aircraft: Airbus A321-271NX
Registration: N507DZ
Delivered: October 13, 2022
Age: 1.5 years (at time of flight)

My seat
Here's my seat for the next three hours down to ATL, 12F (Comfort+).

At each seat there's a good size PTV.

Legroom is great! These seats in Comfort+ offer 34" of pitch.

This seat also comes with a great wing and engine view. However, since this is an overnight flight there won't be much to see out the window.

The overhead panel contains both an individual air vent and reading light.

Boarding is complete and today's flight load down to Atlanta is completely full at 100%. Flight time to ATL will be a fairly quick three hours and 10 minutes.

Shortly after, the flight attendants passed through the cabin offering complimentary headphones.

The captain also apologized for the delay and announced that our new estimated time of departure will be 12:35a.

Boarding is complete and today's load to ATL tonight/morning is completely full at 100%.

Pushback
You can check out the entire taxi and takeoff at the video below:

The safety video began showing.

Takeoff
Tonight we'll be departing out of runway 16R.

See you in two weeks SLC!

Last views of Utah before going above the clouds.

Inflight entertainment
Let's take this moment and check out IFE system. Delta's IFE system, also called Delta Studio has a good selection of movies, tv shows and music to listen to.

More then enough content to keep one entertained especially on a flight of this length.

But my absolute favorite part is the interactive map which is always fun to explore on it 😉.

Inflight service
Since I am seated in Comfort+, we get a premium snack choice from a basket before the main service.

I chose two things, a bag of pistachios and some chocolate cookies.

About 50 minutes into flight the main snacks and drink service began.

I went for a bag of Sun Chips and for my choice of drink I went for a Jack Daniels and coke.

It's important to note that alcoholic beverages are complimentary in comfort+.

I fell asleep shortly after the service and eventually woke up to the captain's announcing of our descent into Atlanta.

Tray table & seat back contents
While I have some lighting as the flight attendants are preparing the cabin for landing, let's check out the tray table and seat back contents. The tray table is of standard size and extendable.

The seat back contents consisted of a safety card and inflight entertainment guide.

Initial descent
You can check out the entire landing and arrival to gate in the video below:

On this particular morning the weather in Atlanta was still a bit bad from the night before with strong winds, fog and heavy rainfall.

Landing
This morning we'll be landing into runway 8L.

Despite the inclement weather, that was a very smooth landing. Welcome to Atlanta!

Arrival at gate

Despite the over an hour delay departure from SLC, the pilots managed to make some time in the air and we arrived at the gate only twenty minutes late.

We arrived at the A concourse and now it's tine to make our dash to concourse B for our departure to JFK next.

This concludes the trip report, stay tuned for the next one! Thanks for reading!
