Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Today's journey starts in a very hot Muscat, Oman.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The airport is easily located and very modern. I was very impressed.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Upon arrival into Muscat, the taxi driver gifted me a glass platter of dates because it was Ramadan. So kind.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Today, I'm flying Business Class so can utilise Oman Air's dedicated Business Class check-in lane.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

It was empty and I had it all to myself.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Oman Air is part of the Oneworld alliance, and I booked my tickets through the British Airways Club.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

This cost me 68,500 Avios and £72.90 in taxes and fees, one-way.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Muscat International Airport smells beautiful, thanks in no small part to these Oliban infuser machines that pump the terminal full of wonderful scents!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I then decided to visit the Oman Air business class lounge located on the Upper Floor above Duty Free.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

It's a very grand entrance and the staff were very friendly.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

There's plenty of seating areas and the lounge is designed in wonderful marble and golden tones.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

There's also a formal dining setting if you wish to sit and eat.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I went for some Omani coffee and dates…

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

…and a Fruit Trifle (or a Oman Air called it, a Fruit Truffle!).

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

There's a grand outdoor viewing platform inside the lounge but sadly this was closed on the day of my visit.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The toilets were very clean and had a cotton hand towels. A nice touch.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I then began to drift off in my seat so the lovely lounge staff escorted me to a private cabana room and said they would wake me when the flight was boarding.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

What stellar service!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The rooms also feature a small snack bar and some drinks, too.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Today's aircraft over to Paris Charles de Gaulle is this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

After a short wait, we were down the air bridge and ready to board.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The forward cabin is in a 1/2/1 seating formation with 14 rows.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

And my seat was set in the private 'row of 4' cabin, set behind the first cabin. I was in 15A, the window seat.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

It can feel a little inpersonal at first due to the proximity of the adjacent seat, but stay tuned for the privacy divider later in the review.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I was given a hot towel…

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

…and a glass of Oman Air's signature lemon and mint juice. This was divine!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Finally, on pushback, I was served a small cup of Omani coffee and a date.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

We then departed for Paris.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

As you can see, the legroom is nothing short of spectacular. The space in this seat really does come into it's own in the air!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Once the seatbelt sign was de-illuminated, I raised the privacy divider which creates a much more private space.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

It's also so evident we're in oil country, on account of the numerous oil rigs you fly over on your departure out of Muscat.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I was served a lemon and mint juice and a selection of mixed nuts which consisted of cashews, pistachios and almonds.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Oman Air's "Aria" in-flight entertainment system has a whole host of content.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The remote did however, operate with a large amount of lag.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

And the noise cancelling headphones also didn't do a great job of cancelling out the background noise.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

My tray table was then laid with a tablecloth which indicated the start of service.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

A flurry of items soon arrived including…

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

A selection of warm Omani flatbread.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

A mint and pomegranate labneh.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

And a beetroot and capsicum pepper salad.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I was then served the lamb sambusa with coconut mint chutney. These were also fantastic and very crispy!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The final addition to the incredibly large starter service was this Papluo Omani fish soup with line caught fish, tomato, turmeric and lime juice.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

That's what I call a pretty impressive starter service!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

My main course arrived shortly afterwards and I opted for the Makbus Dijaj. A culmination of spiced rice, oven roasted chicken, spices and a kachumber salad.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Finally, dessert was Masoub. A banana date pudding with almonds, mascarpone and honey. It was beautiful!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The business class cabin benefit from their own toilets. They're slightly larger than those in economy and were very clean.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

There were also complimentary Oman Air branded shaving and dental kits.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Not to mention branded amenities from Omani brand, Amouage.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I returned to my seat only to find that the crew had brought me a glass of Sauternes to round-off the first meal service. What a gesture!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I then needed a lie down so made the seat into the fully lie flat bed mode. I was really impressed with the comfort levels and also the length. I dare say you could be nearly 7ft and lie down comfortable in this bed.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

And it didn't take me long to drift off!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I woke up to a fresh carcadet (hibiscus) juice.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Alongside a moroccan sweet tea and cantucci biscuit.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

We then stated to lose the light and the sun began to set as weren't too far off from Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

The final meal service was 'on request' but the crew proactively asked all passengers if they wished to dine again. It was an afternoon tea setup with a selection of sandwiches, a slice of quiche, two scones with fig jam and fresh cream and a warm chocolate and walnut brownie loaf.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

I also opted for the green juice which was suggested by the crew. It was awful, and they got a lovely giggle watching me try it!

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

And that wraps up my Oman Air business class experience…

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

We touched down into CdG slightly ahead of schedule and overall, it was a fantastic experience. I'd have no trouble recommending Oman Air.

Oman Air Muscat → Paris

Thanks, as always, for reading and watching. See you next week!

Conclusion

Business class again? Yes! I’m flying with Oman Air from Muscat International Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, and it might just feature the biggest bed I’ve ever had on a plane.

Oman Air is one of the newest members of the Oneworld alliance, and their premium cabin has long had a reputation for being something a little special. From the private Business Class check-in wing at Muscat, to the Oman Air lounge, spacious seat, onboard service and dining, this flight offers a fascinating look at one of the Middle East’s most underrated airlines.

But does the experience live up to the hype?

  • Thanks for the review! I was lucky enough to fly with them in November, the 787 bed really is industry-leading in terms of size and open space. My only complaint was that most of their flights are no longer than 8 hours long...
