Hello all, Welcome to this shortarchive series of flight that took me from my hometown to Tel Aviv and back, with a stop at Nice to spend some time with my parents that were in Menton. Could be worse right? Well this was also a funny avgeek experience as there were not less than 3 different companies for 4 legs!!
The first two legs with Pegasus were dirt cheap: £79 from London Stansted to Tel Aviv; I guess the awful time - landing at 5am there explains it.
at london - stansted airport
I came to London Stansted airport with the stansted express train from Liverpool street station; unlike the Gatwick express, the train ticket is fairly priced.
My flight was litteraly the last flight to leave on this day, half a hour before the airport closes hence was completely empty…
Most of the duty free either shut or the sales assistants were busy re-arranging goods delivered to them. Really quite rare to see this at stansted!
The only space that was a bit lively were the food stores..
My flight was announced at gate A12, so i took the shuttle to get there..
and the boarding was called, without any sort of priority boarding I could recall… Stansted airport terminal buildings are made of 3 rectangles, each has gates on each side and you need to go down the escalator to reach the gate… And this is something I have not often seen: most of the gates don't have jetways… just a normal staircase that you need to walk through to get to the aircraft.
onboard the a320
Aircraft: Airbus A320-216 Registration: TC-DCF Engines: 2x CFM56 Age: 11 Years Layout: Y180 Observation: Previously operated on Alitalia
I was seating on 20A, so on the 2/3 towards the rear of the aircraft. We were next to an old Jet2 aircraft.
We didn't have an announce from the captain nor the crew, or at least it was just made in Turkish, and we pushed back 15 min earlier than scheduled - I guess everyone was tired.
We taxied towards runway 22…
and take off!! goodbye stansted!
the onboard magasine & food menu
I found the prices a bit high..
And after this very developped and exquisite litterature I fell asleep… Well at least I tried but people were talking… The seat was uncomfortable and despite me not being that tall (1m75) my knees were beyound touching the seat in front me. I tried to close my eyes and I think I managed to sleep only the last 10 min when I was awaken by landing - nobody asked me to fasten my seat belt!!!!
And taxiing with loads of yellow birds..
at istanbul - sabihia gokcen
unboarding with a bus, like it is exclusively the case at Sabihia Gokcen. The airport isn't the most convenient one, especially if you are off visiting Istanbul as it is on the Asian side. I was just connecting there so not much of a trouble for me.
Once arriving airside, I tried to find a quiet space to sleep a bit more.. And the best I found was above the stairs next to burger king… It is only when I write this report that i realise how much my travels have improved !!
Unforntunately I could find that many pictures of the following leg, I was mostly sleeping so I am unfraid I can't report it. Thanks for reading me anyway!

Conclusion
Stansted: The airport is quite far if you live in Zone 1 like I do; however if you live in north London or Essex it is perfect. The building itself has lots of natural light (well not on this report!), it is clean and there is a LOT of duty free/ food. This is the UK - business is business!
Pegasus: Cabin was quite cramped. Not a nice flight to try and sleep on, usually red eye flights aren't great but if you are 1m75 and you are touching the seat in front of you there is no hope for you to get comfortable and sleep. Crew was ok but I don't remember them going the extra mile. Like I often say, any airline offering BOB isn't worth than 5 in the ranking.
S Gokcen: a bit like Luton airport. Sad, no light, cheap materials. Really average.
