Hi,
During this late evening transfer HKG airport felt extremely deserted: I did not see any open shop or restaurant at the gates area during my transfer. Most shops still looked completely locked down from covid days.
Luckily Cathay Pacific's Lounge 'The Pier' was open.
The Lounge provides a cozy and welcoming entrance one floor below the boarding gates.
It is huge with many nice and different seating areas.
Some corners/seats however already look a little bit worn.
There is plenty of different food and drink choices from self service bars and a proper staffed alocholic drinks bar.
I took a seat close to the window.
My selection of snacks for my wait:
Boarding started on time and in a very organized way with dedicated priority lane.
My comfortable window seat for this night flight to Europe.
Menu & breakfast order card were at the seat already:
Same for some water and the amenity kit.
On the ground hot towels and welcome drinks were offered while the cabin filled up completely.
Meal and drink orders for the supper were taken on the ground while breakfast cards were collected inflight after supper.
We took off on time into dark skies and climbed out of Hongkong for this very long flight of 13 hours 30 minutes to Germany.
There was no aperitif service on this late evening flight - first table clothes were laid out.
Then the extremely slowly and not really caring crew took for ages to serve everybody the ordered supper.
My meal reached me almost two hours after take off which is really late.
The meal was basically a one-tray supper of your main course and some bread - the fish I had was just ok and the first not really great experience on my recent Cathay Pacific flights.
It again took very long until my tray was cleared any my tasty dessert selection and a cup of tea were served.
Fine chocolates were offered with that from a nice box.
All in all for such a rather small supper the crew did a very slow and annoyingly inefficient service.
I catched at least some mediocre sleep while we made our way towards Europe that night.
Cabin lights were turned on ca. 2 hours out of Frankfurt and surprisingly no hot towels were offered - I would have really welcomed them after such a long night flight.
Table clothes were laid out very soon and then again second episode of the extremely slowly crew: It took them one hour until I was served my ordered breakfast.
The bircher muesli and breakfast in general however was fine.
We started our descend and landed almost on time at Frankfurt where our A350 docked at Terminal 2.
Thanks for reading,
FlyAlex
Hi Alex,
coming from the first leg I was expcting again an excellent report. Of course the report is great, but more due to your reporting talents and not because of the great service... 2 different flights, 2 totally appart experiences. At least you arrived in T2 at Frankfurt Airport which is way better than T1.
Bis bald!
