As I'm continuing my previous flight report, I would add some more details which differ this from the one uploaded.

This was a connecting flight from Jakarta to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi through Singapore. As mentioned before, I had an hour delay at CGK, so this also impacted to my transfer time. I was planned to reach SIN by 14:10, but I managed to walk through the aircraft door by 16:30. It means, I have a very limited time walking (and half running) to my next gate without knowing at first which gate to reach. Seen below was the immigration section of T1.

The only source I had was the FIDS screen, as SIN is known as a silent airport with no announcement through speaker.

SIN in general and T1 in particular was such a fascinating airport, with plenty of premium outlets to shop (and window shop). The carpets gave different touch, compared to T4 with more exposed tiles instead.

Security check was done inside the waiting room. Right after my bag finished the checking process, we were called for boarding. I didn't even have time for charging my low-battery cellphone.

Here was my ride, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner registered as 9V-OFH with nose name "Scooti-mite". Delivered on April 2017.

Just realized my seat was in F, while the window ones were A and K. It means, mine would be on the middle row. My first time both on a LCC's wide body and on its middle row.

The flight attendant looked fresh in their simple black-yellow uniform. Same goes to the stewards who looked more sporty - might be part of their branding. The seats were thicker and comfier indeed for me, knowing the fact that they also operated this type for their long haul route to Athens.

Seat pitch were alright for LCC. They also provided charging port onboard under the seats. Again, nothing much inside the seat pocket except safety card.

We departed on time. During the flight, I did nothing much besides sleeping and as we flew through the sunset time, such heartwarming view could be seen. For me, it was just something else - majestic feeling when I woke up.

Finally, we landed on time at BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport - the home base of TG. Now, the challenge was to queue for immigration thing. Love their Thai ethnic decorations which show strong influence from Hindustan tho.

Conclusion

Scoot could be an option when you're about to fly medium and long haul, considering their competitive ticket price. They are also part of SQ group, so I could make sure they have the quality required.

  • Thanks for sharing this FR! The B788 is definitely a large step up in terms of comfort with the better seat pitch, though I don't like the design of placing controls on top of the armrests, especially with FA call buttons. There are definitely peculiar aspects to their product, despite having the AC charging ports don't they charge for the use of them?

    • Yeah, AFAIK Scoot is the only airline that charge for power. I can't imagine a lot of passengers pay for it, so seems like a wasted investment, but I guess maybe in the long-run it eventually makes money. Just weird. Some LCCs (even Legacy carriers, ahem ANZ) still charge for IFE (or at least for "premium content" on the IFE...but charging for power sounds like a logistical nightmare for cabin crew (charging and running up to a control panel to turn on over and over again)...that is if it were actually a popular option...but it doesn't appear that was ever the case.

  • I like Scoot's livery, it's really fun and looks great on a Dreamliner. Very basic interior, but it's cool to get to fly a widebody on an LCC. Thanks for sharing!
