Welcome to my new flight report and in this report I will cover CX110 from SYD - HKG in J
Check-in and security check was quick with nobody in line in front of me, and I make my way to the Qantas Business lounge
Not so many people in the lounge now, but it does get very crowded after.
Breakfast

The selection was kind of limited.
After the breakfast, I went for a tour in the terminal and then went to the gate.

Aircraft: B-LAP ( 4 years old)
Model: Airbus A330-343
The boarding started 1hr late. So I went for another tour, when I was back to the gate, the general boarding already started.
Only 1 jet bridge was used so there was some jam on the jet bridge.
ISM was greeting passengers at door 1L, although I boarded with Y pax, she still greeted me by name when she saw my boarding pass.
My seat 20A. I always prefer 20A on A333.

PDB was severed with a choice of orange juice, apple juice and water.
I picked orange juice.
Because we are already so late, after the boarding was completed, door was quickly closed and we are on our way to HKG.

Breakfast was severed half hour after take off


I went for congee , it tasted okay.

A hot chocolate to finish, after that, I turned my seat to bed and slept for a bit.

And about half way of the flight, lunch was severed.
Start with warm nuts.

The starter tasted horrible.. And I really hate beetroot..

The main I went for beef, it was great this time. Very tender.

Red centre. Great

After the main, crew came with a cart with fruits and cheese.
I declined cheese, and just went for some fruits.

The place fruits on the plate in front of you, which I think was nice.
Then it was time for desserts.

I request the tart as well

The desserts tasted awesome, and I was so surprised to find that there were 2 choices. It was only 1 choice before.
Pralines to finish.


The bed was really good to relax.
On approach to HKG, we were assigned to a holding pattern.

Landed about 20 minutes late, at 3:30pm
Overall, it was a great flight. The crew were friendly, and I was addressed by my surname. Before we start our decent, the crew came to me to inform me that my connecting flight was delayed so they will put me to an earlier flight, and when we disembark, the crew came to me again and reminded me to contact the ground staff. Great service.
The catering was good, higher than my expectation from CX.
Overall, I really enjoyed my flight.

Thanks for this flight report. I always wonder what the service is for this day time SYD-HKG flight. How far out of SYD did the crew serve lunch? I personally prefer to be able to eat, sleep, and then about 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours before landing eat the second meal. CX is sometimes quite notorious for waking you up in the middle of the flight.
Regarding two choices of dessert, that was indeed a new initiative. It started a couple months ago. I guess it's good that CX is trying to do something since its catering standard has really gone down hill.

Thanks for your reply. They serve lunch about 4 and half hours before landing, so it's indeed midway through the flight as the flight time is around 9hrs. But you can choose to sleep and the crew will ask you if you want to have lunch when you are awake.

Catering looks improved on CX over what was being done a couple of years ago (especially 2 full meals on a shorter flight like this). I agree with BombieFlyer that the meal times are way out of wack offering the lunch mid-flight. I'm glad to see CX now offers real desserts in J instead of the boring Haagen-Dazs that normally appears on Asian carriers.

Yeah I am glad that the catering quality is (finally) coming back on CX. I am so surprised to find out that they offer 2 desserts option now, but I believe they still serve Haagen-Dazs on short-haul flight.

The pro activity of the new seems great and I am impressed on how they booked you on an earlier flight : great job !
