Hello Everyone

This is my first ever flight report so i hope you readers enjoy it

I was suppose to cover the previous flight from Sydney to Hong Kong but the problem was that i didn't take enough photos for that report so there will be no report for that flight sector sorry

This report covers a recent flight i took on Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Sydney on 26th November 2017. I went to Hong Kong to enjoy a little getaway after completing high school for the final year, so this trip was just for me to have a relaxation period and enjoy the good food and company with family and friends. I was looking forward to try Premium Economy because i knew that Cathay's products in all different classes were good and comfortable, and from watching video reviews and reading blogs so therefore i knew it was going to be a good flight experience.

I knew that since we were going back to Sydney the best airline options to fly with were Cathay Pacific or Qantas. Singapore Airlines was an option but it wasn't the preference because it would mean that we would have to stop at Singapore and transit towards sydney which would mean a bit of extra time and the hassle of going through another city. I decided to use my Asia Miles points since i had a lot available and it would go to waste very soon. My redemption cost me 35,000 and $514 HKD in taxes which is equivalent to $86 AUD.

Check-in

Check-in at Hong Kong airport was pretty smooth, since i was flying premium economy to Sydney i was able to check-in with my parents in the business class line since they were travelling business back to Sydney. The lines weren't that long since it was late in the evening, we checked in around 9pm but during check-in we had some issues with the amount of bags we were having to check-in, the policy with cathay is from economy to business every passenger gets 2 pieces to checkin but between 3 ppl we had 9 pieces to checkin so the extra 2 bags we just had to take out and carry on and the other was given to our family member to checkin since they weren't over the limit. Between the 3ppl we had 115kg to checkin

Lounge Access

Unfortunately there was no lounge access for me since i was going in premium economy, even if kids were under 18 they won't be allowed access into the lounge since cathay's policy is you must travel business or have Marco Polo Gold Status then your able to bring a guest into any of Cathay's business lounges at HKG Airport.

Premium Economy Seat

The seat had a good amount of legroom since i was a tall person i was happy with the legroom i had got which was nice. The one point i want to raise is that if your sitting in the last row of premium economy section and your in front of the wall divider you might not get the recline that other seats get so this is just to let you know for future seat selection choices

Drinks List

Supper Meal Selection:
Sautéed Halibut, Sa Cha sauce, mixed vegetables and steamed Jasmine Rice

Verdict: The fish was nice and moist, rice was good to accompany with the fish but the vegetables were bland and not that delicious to eat
photo img_9044

Breakfast Meal Selection:
Dim Sum Selection
Chicken Glutinous Rice, shrimp siu mai chicken and fungus dumpling, Chiu Chow fun Gor

Verdict: Everything was delicious in this particular meal, everything had good flavour which was the most impressive thing of the overall dish. And croissant was nice to accompany with the dim sum selection
I would recommend anyone to pick the dim sum selection if your flight has it

Seat pocket Items

Noise Cancelling Headphones provided (Same Headphones used in Business Class)

In the seat you get your usual duty free magazine and just a regular Hong Kong Magazine plus the standard safety card

Summary

Overall the flight was very nice and comfortable, food and drinks was good, seat comfort and legroom space was good as well. My friendly advice for anyone planning to fly with Cathay Pacific in the future is if your short on points for business class or your just unlucky cause it's full, book premium economy class you won't be disappointed with it as it's definitely worth it as a second option for any reason you can't get business or you just want to get more legroom from economy class seats then premium economy is the go to option for anyone when flying with Cathay Pacific

    Hey Bigdog!

Welcome to flight-report.com! You wrote a great report, with a lot of relevant information, good photos and interesting details, plainspotting and all. That's great! You make many of us feel like "small puppies". hahha

According to the flight information at the beginning, your flight lasted more than 9 hours! Is Hong Kong THAT far from Australia? I'm afraid I'm not very good at Asian geography. :(

Thanks for sharing, and keep the good work! ^_^
