In January, I had a business trip to Hong Kong. I thought this was a good chance to try the brand new Lufthansa A350XWB. This report covered the first part of the trip from Munich to Hong Kong.

1. LH730 MUC->HKG: You are here!
2. LH731 HKG->MUC: soon!

On the day of flight I finished my work earlier. I took as usual the S-Bahn and arrived the airport at 20:35pm. Check-in counters were literally empty and I quickly checked my baggage.

I have already finished the online check-in the night before and had the boarding pass saved in the wallet.

My gate was assigned at H02 which is located at one end of the terminal. I was air-sided in no minutes as the security check and immigration were empty. Then I headed directly to my gate.

This was my plane. D-AIXF, with the name Bochum. Could not get a decent photo for the aircraft.

At 21:03pm, I have already arrived at the gate. I found a seat nearby and took a rest.

Boarding was commenced at 21:59pm with gate H01 for first and business class and H02 for the economy class. My seat, 33A. 31 inches of the seat pitch which is standard for Lufthansa long-haul fleet. Blanket, pillow and headphone were already placed on the seat.

One special thing about the entertainment system was that you can connect your phone to the entertainment system with the Lufthansa companion app.

Boarding was completed at 22:30pm, followed by pushback 6 minutes later. The cabin light was dimmed and the flight time was expected to be 10 hours and 50 minutes. Loading was quite full and a had a Hong Kong young couple seating next to me.

Shortly after take off the cabin light was turned on again, and I soon started to view the first movie, American Made.

10 mins later menu was distributed.

Snacks were served at 23:34pm, and I opted for coke with ice.

Then wet tissue was distributed to passengers. Dinner was served one hour later. I took the "Fried Chicken leg with Lemon sauce" option with red wine. As you can see, the table was actually very small.

We continued to head for the east. Passing through Czech Republic, Poland and Belarus and entered Russia.

At 1:27am, I watched the second movie, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. About 10 minutes later the cabin started to darkened and soon we were in complete darkness. I soon felt asleep…

I woke up at around 4:20am, and at that time we were flying north of Almaty. Then I continued with the movie.

By the time I finished the movie I checked the flight map again and we were probably flying somewhere in Qinghai provences of China.

Breakfast was served at 8:23am, to me this was somehow quite strange as we only had less than one hour to landing. I took the "Omelette" option.
