Welcome to this trip-report reviewing Thai Airways B777-300ER Business Class.

My trip was simple

Thai Airways B777-300ER Business Class Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)
Thai Airways B777-300 Business Class Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) - Chennai International Airport (MAA)

I was going back to India after 2 years of living in Shanghai and it was my last time seeing this marvelous structure.

Some pictures of Shanghai Pudong Airport from the outside

There was a security check just before entering the terminal. A picture of the incredibly high ceiling

The check-in counter was easy to find and they had 3 counters dedicated to business class passengers. Originally this flight was going to be operated by the A350 but at the last minute, they changed the aircraft. Why does this always happen to me alone? I have the worst luck ever. My Hainan Airlines B787 was changed to an A330, My Air China A330-300 was changed to an A330-200 and my Srilankan Airlines A330 was also changed to an A320. I really do have the worst luck.

They did have special business counters for security check. Just after the security check, they have lounge locations.

The lounge was separated into First and Business class section. The lounge was good it did need some more natural light and food options. The lounge does offer showers and ok food.

The boarding was pretty but it was the same boarding pass as economy unlike airlines like Singapore(sometimes) and Lufthansa have different boarding passes for different classes.

photo img_20180701_163822

The gate had been changed to a bus gate. Walking past those empty gates to my bus gates was really sad. I took this cool emirates A380 picture.

photo img_20180701_165038

We boarded by bus and another point of luxury was taken away from Thai Airways as they could not afford to give the business class passengers their own bus. There was no point for a priority boarding for business class passengers because we had to stand and wait in the bus for the economy passengers anyway.

My seat 16F. Originally I had booked a seat that faced the window but apparently, the check-in agents changed the seat.

photo img_20180701_172036

The menu had already been placed next to my seat.

Conclusion

Thai Airways is not what I expected. I personally am disappointed by the service that they provided. I expected more from them. They have a lot to do if they are going to compete against their Asian rivals.
