Welcome to this trip-report reviewing Thai Airways B777-300ER Business Class.
My trip was simple
Thai Airways B777-300ER Business Class Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Thai Airways B777-300 Business Class Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) - Chennai International Airport (MAA)
I was going back to India after 2 years of living in Shanghai and it was my last time seeing this marvelous structure.
Some pictures of Shanghai Pudong Airport from the outside
There was a security check just before entering the terminal. A picture of the incredibly high ceiling
The check-in counter was easy to find and they had 3 counters dedicated to business class passengers. Originally this flight was going to be operated by the A350 but at the last minute, they changed the aircraft. Why does this always happen to me alone? I have the worst luck ever. My Hainan Airlines B787 was changed to an A330, My Air China A330-300 was changed to an A330-200 and my Srilankan Airlines A330 was also changed to an A320. I really do have the worst luck.
They did have special business counters for security check. Just after the security check, they have lounge locations.
Planespotting on the way to the lounge Emirates A380 to Dubai Lufthansa A340 to Munich Singapore Airlines A380 to Singapore United Airlines B787 to Los Angeles Dragonair A330 to Hong Kong
Juneyao Airlines A320 to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Etihad B787 to Abu Dhabi Air New Zealand B787 to Auckland Mahan Air A340 to Tehran American Airlines B787 to Dallas Hainan Airlines B787 to Brussels Vietnam Airlines B767 to Da Nang
The lounge was on the second floor and can be used by all Star Alliance and American Airlines Passengers
The lounge was separated into First and Business class section. The lounge was good it did need some more natural light and food options. The lounge does offer showers and ok food.
Ethiopian Airlines A350 to Addis Ababa Air Canada B777-300ER to Toronto and our plane Thai Airways B777-300ER to Bangkok
Departure Board
The boarding was pretty but it was the same boarding pass as economy unlike airlines like Singapore(sometimes) and Lufthansa have different boarding passes for different classes.
The gate had been changed to a bus gate. Walking past those empty gates to my bus gates was really sad. I took this cool emirates A380 picture.
We boarded by bus and another point of luxury was taken away from Thai Airways as they could not afford to give the business class passengers their own bus. There was no point for a priority boarding for business class passengers because we had to stand and wait in the bus for the economy passengers anyway.
Some more plane spotting oppurtunities using the bus British Airways B777 to London Hong Kong Airlines A330 to Hong Kong Turkish Airlines B777 to Istanbul Lufthansa B747 to Frankfurt Qatar B777 to Doha ANA B767 to Naha
Our aircraft from up close. While we were going up the stairs with our large bags, none of the Thai Airways staff bothered helping us.
My seat 16F. Originally I had booked a seat that faced the window but apparently, the check-in agents changed the seat.
The menu had already been placed next to my seat.

A pre-departure drink was served. It was a Peach and lemon juice.
The headphones that they provided was broken, so I asked for another, and what they gave me was standard Thai Airways, another broken Headphone.
The Blanket
Some more plane spotting during take off KLM B787 to Amsterdam Air France B777 to Paris Japan Airlines B737 to Nagoya
The dinner was served soon after take-off and my special Vegetarian Meal was served on a tray. After the main course a cheese platter was served and for dessert they served something that had a weird consistency and was made of Coffee.
The business class cabin was a 1-2-1 configuration
The bathroom was clean and had a lot of amenities.
The remote control
The seat controls that also offers the lie-flat seats.
In-flight literature pouch had a Thai Airways Magazine, a duty-free Magazine, and a safety card
The amenity Kit. The amenity kid had standard items and there was nothing to complain about.
I believe we are flying over Macau and at this point, it was time to say goodbye to China
An hour later we landed on the wet runways of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. A rare Qatar Airways A340 that will be reconfigured A Jetasia A320 to Jakarta
Lufthansa A330 to Frankfurt
We were locked into a jetbridge next to the queen of the skies, B747.
One last picture of the seat
We de-boarded the plane and it was time for me to go onto my connection to Chennai. Some pictures of the terminal.

Conclusion
Thai Airways is not what I expected. I personally am disappointed by the service that they provided. I expected more from them. They have a lot to do if they are going to compete against their Asian rivals.

Hi BlazingBurst2016, thanks for sharing this new report! I see you've used the new publisher to post this one. Just a tip, if you separate photos with a text box, just make sure to take out the "Enter Text Here" because otherwise it shows in your report. I took out most of them leaving a blank text box for you, but just keep that in mind on the next one, thanks!
Nice report. It looks like some of the 777 have actual lie flat seats. It's unfortunate the service was bad. Maybe now that you've shared this, your luck will change on future flights.
